I thought the game was very poorly played. Both teams' offenses were terrible. Bad shots. Forced shots. A lot of one on one which resulted in forced shots.
I'm wondering if anyone else feels the same way.

On any given day, we can beat either one of those teams. That's what I took from last night's game.

Miller's X has an old school basketball discipline to it's game. instead of an NBA let it fly, hopefully down the Road that discipline will win out...of course final score is all that matters...

I was watching the game at a party. Someone joked that it was like watching an NBA game except that no one was scoring.

Memphis is over rated.....I don't see them going deep in the tourney.
If you can't make a free throw........?
Tennesse is tough......I like their chances

Well,
We had our chance against Tennesse and didn't take care of the ball. We may get another chance.
Different matchups dictate different styles of play. I believe that we can beat UT, but they have scoreboard now. I wouldn't put too much stock in last night's game then projecting it to another XU/UT matchup result. Turnovers change the entire equation, and Tennessee's intensity causes turnovers.

I don't think we can say that X should have beaten TN, but X certainly could have beaten them, but let the game slip away at then end. Of course, TN had something to do with that. But since the TN game, X has shown that they can close games much better.

Re: Memphis/Tennessee
It was a very entertaining game to watch. Although both teams shot poorly and the game was very badly called in favor of memphis. Fouls were everywhere yet rarely called. In particular there was a charge that should have been called at the end of the game against dozier i think, he flat ran the guy over, and there was still no call. I think memphis is an elite 8 team, they play good defense and have a bunch of slashers. What they don't have though is more the 1 or 2 shooters in douglas roberts and rose. Their lack of being able to make free throws will hurt them in the tourney and they will eventually lose another close game. On the other hand Tenn. went into yet another volitile crowd and walked out with a great road win. Tenn. because of their tough D can make a final four championship type run. Lofton played lousy and they still came out with a good win

Re: Memphis/Tennessee
After watching most of the Drake/Butler game, it was quite a change to watch Memphis/TN.
I look at Xavier as somewhere in between those teams. We have the discipline, FT %, and defense of the Drake/Butler teams but we are a lot closer in athletes to Memphis/TN. We can definitely compete with any of them.
The schedule we have played has really prepared us for contrasting styles.
