Dante Jackson leading the nation in steals per minute!!!

As i was watching the game last night i was thinking to myself that it seems like whenever Dante Jackson is in the game XU gets alot of turnovers and goes on their runs. The next second, Dante was put in and right away got a steal with his defensive pressure. I don't know that anyone else realizes this stat but i went back to look up the numbers and on the stat steals per minutes played Dante is blowing out everyone else on the XU team...and may be the best in the nation! If Dante had played as many minutes as Drew lavender he would have 48 steals to Drews 31 or 17 more!!!! And everyone thought Drew was the steal man for XU!!! i want to congradualte Dante Jackson and bring this statistic to light...it seems when XU needs to make a run in a game they should put Dante in!!! Go with a lineup of Dante, Burell, Drew, Brown, and Duncan when you want some quick scoring and making a run!!!

few minutes high energy. Try it for as many minutes as Drew and 1: He'd foul out or 2: he'd be worn out.

He may foul out but I doubt he would wear out. He was a high school track state champion. He is quicker, faster than anyone he guards.

He brought the energy again last night and really played well I thought. His defense gets better every game and to me it seemed like he played more then 10 minutes with all the contributions he gave to his team. Just goes to show how much confidence and playing time helps out these young players down the stretch of a long season. He is going to be a treat to watch over the next 3+ years.

Jackson also came in for Burrell at one point, and immediately got beat by Baron going to the basket, who was fouled and made 2 FT's.
So, yes, DJ's improved, and should continue to get PT, but he still has a lot to learn as well.

Yes he did and also made a couple bad fouls at the end of the game but so did Burrell and so did Lavender. Just because he got beat to the basket a couple times doesn't mean that he has alot to learn. The key with him is the energy he brings and even though he got beat due to this doesn't mean that he needs to learn more about the game necessarily. Give the kid a break.

Xman25, I'm not giving DJ a hard time in any way. I'm just reacting to "millersdad"'s usual over-the-top post. Leading the team in steals per minutes is like pointing to Andre Smith's point-per-minute production in the early '90s, and concluding that Smith should have been starting and the focus of X's offense, which would have been ludicrous conclusions.

Gotcha...Good analogy by the way. The kid (DJ) does have some things to learn on the court I guess due to being a freshman, but I really think he is playing solid D and I was actually wanting to see him on the court more to give Drew's ankle the rest it obviously needs

I, too, hope that DJ can get more minutes and give Drew a rest as we go down the stretch. I'd love to see DJ play 15-20 minutes Thursday night, as it may be a racehorse game with the Dukes.

I too hope Jackson becomes the steal leader in X history and the Defensive player like Stan next year. The problem with limited time and success means that people give you more hype than even you think you deserve. I think Jackson will be a stud for us and I know he can shoot better than he has shown to date but I think he is playing a role and learning the system and we need to give him time.
I think Sean has demonstrated his ability to make very good players better and all he needs is time.
