Rest Drew

I say rest Drew as much as possible this week, even sit him against the Dukes. This team needs him healthy and 100%. Dayton will still be a monster game and St. Joes will be another war.
With St. Joes down three in the standings, X truly controls their own destiny. GO X!

This is unbelievable!!!! We are actually talking about resting a player in Feb. to be ready for the big dance!!
From someone who has been following X for over 25 years I love that our program has come this far!!
I wonder if UD is thinking of resting Brian Roberts? I heard he still has the sniffles.

By resting Drew, I hope you mean playing him fewer minutes than he normally gets per game. There is no reason to think that Duquesne will be a gimme on Thursday night. But I sure hope I'm wrong --- I'd love to see another blowout again like we routinely got earlier in the season.

I'm talking about giving Drew some time to heal for big conference regular season games coming up. My worst fear is that Lav turns that ankle again so badly that he has to miss a couple weeks. And yes, going into tournament play, that would hurt this team.

He was down to 28 minutes against RI. He probably would have played significantly less if the Rams wouldn't have had that 13pt run. It would be great if X could keep the Dukes down by 15 or more after the first 5 mins for the duration of the game.
Burrell had 7 assists but he also had 6 turnovers. If he can get rid of the bad and keep the good it should be good enough to beat the Dukes. They just don't scare me as much as they used to with the eyebrowless Ron Dokes.

I have to think they'll play Drew as much as needed to win the game.

Drew looked very ouchy at the end. After that floater in the lane, he was wincing as he tried to get back on D.
I still favor making Dante step up and play more like 20 minutes, and resting Drew as much as possible.
And I say that with the risk that he might lose his rhythm for the Dayton game. March is more important than these games, seeding be damned. 4 seed and healthy Drew > 2 seed and gimpy point.

Here's a novel concept? Why don't we let Drew and the medical staff decide how much Drew can play. Drew's 22-23 years old, I am pretty confident he knows him limits, and there is also a great medical staff in place to monitor him. I am sure if Drew would have hurt himself worse Monday night, he wouldn't have been out there.
Let's also not forget, Drew at 50% is better than just about anyone else full strength.
