Question: What are the highest rankings held by X over the years, both during the season and in the final polls? I don't have the answers, just wondering if anyone else does. I'd have to run home to get my media guide.

i think x was ranked 12th in the final poll during D West's senior season...not sure if that's the highest ever, but it might be.

Media guide pp150 -151

12th in the AP at end of Elite 8 run
14th in Coaches same time

Also, we spent 28 straight weeks being ranked from 12-6-96 to 3-8-98

It does show how a great team, as oppossed to having one great player, makes a difference. And I don't mean that as any type of negative comment on West at all. Who would have thought we go to the Elite 8 without him? I thought this X team would be very good but not ranked this high.

I believe at one time during the Prosser years, X made it has high as #7 in the AP poll, and one time did receive a first place vote from a writer. Not sure which year exactly, however.

Yes, I remember when we were ranked #7. We ended up getting a 3 seed in the tournament after a loss. David West was the stud that year. Too bad we lost to #6 seed Maryland in Nashville.

Monday's must really suck for the Dayton fans.
