Lavender update
His left ankle is pretty banged up, and he won't be practicing today or Sunday, Miller said. Whether or not he plays Monday against Rhody will be determined on Monday, Miller said, though XU's coach was careful to point out that Xavier doesn't want to rush Lavender on the court at 50 percent and cause him to end up having to play the rest of the season at 50 percent. His left thumb, which was slightly injured against Charlotte as well, appears to be getting better.
So, as of today, looks like Burrell would be the starting pg with Raymond starting at shooting guard if Lavender rests.
...Meanwhile, there weren't too many takers on my line of questioning today regarding a potential NCAA Tournament seed, but if you're an XU fan, you've got to be rooting against Georgetown and Texas, the two teams that Xavier could catch for a No. 2 spot if XU wins out or comes close to winning out. With three big road games left at Rhody, Dayton and Saint Joseph's, there are plenty of opportunities for Xavier to gain or lose ground in that race. Six wins against the top 50 and 10 against the top 100 is looking pretty good right now. It might come down to which teams perform best in their final 12 games.
