That Kevin Lisch always seems to have a huge game against X. He was pulling some shots out of his but at the end of the game.
Good win, let's move on and protect our home court. Let's sell this game out as it is huge and we need to support our team.
We shot free throws well, but we need to do better at the end of the game. Stan missing the front end of a 1 and 1 almost cost us.
Speaking of Stan, I counted 3 times during the game, that he made a 2 pt jump shot and was basically right on the line. Step back a couple inches and make it a 3, instead of that stupid leg kick crap. He did that 3 freaking times, which cost us 3 points if he would have shot 3 pt jump shots.
I absolutely hate that place at slu, it always seems we struggle there for some reason. SLU was terrible and then all of a sudden started hitting EVERYTHING. Very streaky team. I will take the win, but we have to close teams out better than that, or we won't win these kinds of games.
On to Cintas against St. Joe's...HUGE Game. Let's Go.

I disagree. I thought it was great that Stan was taking the shots when he had them, from where he had them (and when we needed them). You don't look down at the floor and adjust. You shoot where you are. If it's a 2 it's a 2, if it's a 3 it's a 3.MuskiePimp23 wrote: Speaking of Stan, I counted 3 times during the game, that he made a 2 pt jump shot and was basically right on the line. A look at the box score tells me St. Louis stat people don't know what they're doing..Their assist keeping for xavier is a joke. So are the one block and one steal for Xavier. The second half, where Lisch shot 6 of 9 from three point range, many from beyond NBA range and none unchallenged was unbelieveable.
Bottom line is they lost and Xavier, thanks to Drew and Derrick Brown and Josh again. ... Five players in double figures--Brown 12, Anderson 11, Lavender 13, Burrell 12 and Josh 15. ..Xavier also won the rebounding battle with nine off boards and a total of 35 to SLU's 29.

Gut check. Its hard to win on the road (except at Fordham, St Bona, dayton or LaSalle) and after having a big lead looked like a coaster. Teams like this rise to the challenge, the cream of the A10 coming to town so they perform.
The last shot, whether drawn up or not, was a great one (better than a fade away 3).
Good win, better momentum.

I like the fact that Stan was shooting instead of thinking. He caught and shot-didn't worry about where his feet were.He was 4 for 4 in the first half and he gets criticized? Come on.
Who cares that they blew a big lead. They won in a place that they lost in the last 2 years.I'll take any road win.

Re: Some Observations on the game
But for the SLU guy throwing in contested NBA threes in the last minute of the game, Xavier would have won the game by 8-10 points. I thought for the most part X played well. The defense in the first half was great. X really plays good help defense. But not much you can do about the guy dropping in those threes.
My only criticisms are that X really didn't run much of an offense from about the 8 minute mark until about the three minute mark (a few quick threes and a couple of bad shots from Stanley). And Miller ran out of timeouts.

I agree that you need to go with the flow of the game and have a don't think, just shoot attitude. But logic also dictates that the worst 2 point shot on the court is from 19 feet 8 inches. Depends on the situation. I thought Stanley played overall pretty well last night. Solid win. Move on.

I would have liked to have seen some (any) pressure on StL bringing the ball up. They were always strolling to half court without a man on them.
I wonder why they didn't full court press?

Re: Some Observations on the game
Muskiepimp what do you have against Stan? Are you one of those guys that just sees missed shots and assumes this or that player is good? Don't feel bad a lot of guys on this board had that view until they were set straight. Just like last night Drew missed a foul shot after Stanley but a few seconds latter Stan made both. Stan made those shots to put X up by 6.
Xavier survived a scare but they did win and most teams that are good have that scare in their season. I hope we don't have more but I will probably be wrong.
Ask burbonman what to drink and it will get you through those tough times.

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Re: Some Observations on the game
I too thought a little token pressure at the end would have helped. I did like the 3-2 zone Miller threw at them (out of a timeout maybe) with about 2 minutes left. X pushed the lead back up to 7 or 9 before Lisch went off. That kid made some tough shots, but it seemed like him being a lefty kinda threw off our defenders at the end. It looked like he suprised us a couple times by moving to his left to get a shot off.
