Brian Roberts?

Postby Charlesbt4 » Sat Feb 02, 2008 3:12 pm

The kid has talent, but is he really worthy of A-10 POY Honors? I know there are still many games to play, but at this juncture I'd give it to Pat Calathes or Drew Lavender before I'd even consider Brian Roberts.

I love how all of UD fan's make him out as the next Jesus or, at least Obama. He is good - but he is no David West or Drew (who should get POY).

You couldn't aks for a better chance that what Roberts has had. with 2 injured guys, he's got a chance to carry his team, wrap up A-10 POy and position himself for some national honors.

He's certainly NOT the POY after this UD stretch.

if XU wins the conference outright, it has to be Drew.

In fact, if we win it outright, Stan should be defensive POY, BJ will be 6th man, and we'll get probably Stan and one other (maybe CJ or Brown) on the 2nd team or as honorable mention.

I guess the proof will be when the honors are made. If I were a betting man I would tend to go with "the above posts" (excluding the one immediately above) which I hardly find funny.

Drew is 4-0 against Brian and the Flyers and that is the only thing that matters and I am sure Brian would agree. If Drew played on a crap team like Dayton he would have to score 20 a night as well but when you play on a team that has 5 other double figure scorers it is kind of tough to put up offensive numbers like Brian Roberts. I am sure Brian would much rather be in Drew's shoes.

POY honors tend to go to somebody from a team at/near top of the league; props to brob but if his team finishes back in the pack, POY is not likely. Drew does so much to control the game that he is a most worthy candidate.

IF IF IF Brian Roberts is the best player....it doesn't mean he is the POY...the POY carries his team.
Lavender all the way. The best player on the best team.
SHOULD UD win the league....Roberts all the way...but that's not the case now.

I think I saw JoeyBaloney shopping for watermelons yesterday at Kroger.

Who's comparing Lavender to Roberts? No One. Not even Roberts.

Drew right now is the best PG in the league.
In all fairness, the two shouldn't be compared to each other because they play different positions and have different roles. Consider this. One more loss and Dayton will be in big trouble for post-season play unless it wins the A10 tournament.
Dayton still has road games at GW, LaSalle, Fordham and St. Bona; and home games with Charlotte, Duquesne, Temple, Xavier and ends with St. Joe .
Lord forbid that the two injured Flyers don't return for the games at GW and LaSalle or the home games with Temple and Xavier? And the lord forbid Roberts gets sick again? Did he have flu, mono or beriberi?
