I'm assuming someone said something naughty to get my thread about the St. Louis game removed. I was interested to see what Shadow would say today.
So I occasionally post over a UC network, or from a UC computer, Shadow. So what. You care to tell me where you post from and why? Where you work and live? Your name? SS #?
The only time I've been to a UC game was when they played X. The only reason I have ever kept up with how they do or watched a game was for scouting or the sake of our RPI. I just recently started posting on MM, because 1) after being back in the US, I can follow the team better and have my own opinions, and don't need to refer to this site for extra, albeit not always very enlightened, info; 2) a lot of the very dumb political bickering has been cut out; you don't want to get me started on politics in this country...
Whatever...
I am worried about that game, even if I shouldn't be. I wasn't worried the last two times we lost there! History has taught me something...

Re: St. Louis
Your thread was deleted because a few of us were questioning Shadow's moderator practices. I suggest you go to Xavierhoops.com, which is the new board. I'm now considering heading over there full time.

Re: St. Louis
Shadow is the moderator? I was wondering how he knew my IP address. I tried looking for his...
Well, thanks for letting everyone know personal information. That is a crime...
But I won't tell anyone...

My compliments to the Skeldons for improving the look and performance of this board and mostly for all your efforts and cost over the years.
It's unfortunate that you do not address the #1 issue with this board, Shadow.
With the exception of vee4, I think we would all even prefer 40 versions of Prop over Shadow, his illogical moderation and his ridiculous posts.

Re: St. Louis
Not that Shadow needs a defense but I will come to it. I am a moderator and I get messages about this or that person being a troll and when am I going to do something about it. In the past I have revealed a person that had multiple monikers because they were starting to inflame the board. I usually read 90 to 100% of their posts first but sometimes it is hard to tell who the good guys are and are not because they start out neutral(sorry Gary) or positive and progressively get crazy.tacitus wrote:I'm assuming someone said something naughty to get my thread about the St. Louis game removed. There have been posters that have savaged Gary, there are posters that savage Shadow, there were even poster that savaged moi but I have seen a lot of restraint on the part of Gary and Shadow letting posters make their point or scream something at them in some very unchristian type ways. I know the job is tougher than you think just ask Pablo.
Hey, I have had posts or threads deleted but my life does not anchor itself on one or two posts on a board of about 200 to 400 people. I would like it if life was perfect and everyone was kind but seeing how it is not, could we just stop being the squeaky wheel?
tacitus you might be the nicest guy in the world and I might even know you but what harm did it do to you to answer the question even if you thought it was an invasion of your privacy. IP address is one of the ways we have in stopping troll and flamer and we do stop a lot of them before they have a chance to make the board look any worse than what you think it does.
Shadow may not be perfect but none of us are, especially me, and well shadow has a great RV that someday I would like to see so he can not be as bad as some of you portray him.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Re: St. Louis
Trolls humping the other board, and badmouthing MM: Pathetic.
If you like the other board, fine, go there. No need to come over here and badmouth...that was the announced reason for leaving, 87 and jimmie "I'll never post here again" boy. Just leave. I would applaud deleting them, Muskieman.
I'm the guy who raised the IP identify issue originally, but I'm loyal to this board and the outlet it gives us, and the Mods who take the heat.

xu87 I enjoy our discussions but I guess if you leave they will be after the games at the Cintas Center.

Re: St. Louis
I had just started a thread about an opinion and someone called me out for having posted two or three comments from a UC computer/IP address.
I responded by listing numerous reasons my loyalty to Xavier basketball should not be doubted, adding that I do not need to clarify the UC connection, as that is my business.
The next morning the thread was deleted.
I was unaware of the fact that Shadow is a moderator, and thought that he or someone else had responded to my comments with obscene remarks that led to the whole thread being deleted. So I started a new thread... The interaction thereafter is above...
Fine, I was mad that someone would infer that I am a UC Basketball fan, and not knowing the issue with trolls on this board or how they are handled, I lashed out in response to the information I was given.
It is not that big of a deal that the handful of people who read that thread or this one now know that tacitus has some association to UC. I assume that only decent acquaintances will put two and two together and figure out who I am... Most of my friends here don't know I'm on here yet. But still... that is personal information and, while a relatively minor one, a security issue. Is there no other way to figure out if a poster is a troll?

Sure if they are blatantly obvious.
The mods are tasked to keep some sort of control on here but even the guys I know that are great fans can get crazy at times. It is like the old saying, "Herding a bunch of cats"
