Xavier Making Noise Again

Sean Miller and Xavier are now players in the Mecca. Miller hired Book Richardson, former head of the Gauchos AAU squad, last year and it’s starting to pay huge dividends with the news of Kevin Parrom’s verbal commitment. Parrom played at St Raymonds in the Bronx before he got into it with his coach Oliver Antigua a few months back. The 6′6 wing is a 4 star recruit now playing at South Kent Prep (Ct). He chose Xavier over St Johns and other Big East schools. Right now Xavier has two freshmen from the state of New York in Long Island guard Terrell Holloway (Hempstead) and upstater Mark Lyons (Schenectady). The X has one more ’ship available for 2009 and will probably use it on a big (Chris Braswell?). Miller has been beating out bigger conference schools for recruits in the last few years — see the Elite 8 finishes — and with an ability to seemingly recruit any part of the country east of the Mississippi, I wouldn’t be surprised to see those Elite 8’s turn into a Final Four very soon.

Mr. N, thanks for the great post. This is the stuff that is especially sweet to read. While its nice to hear/read about our historical success and our prominence as a program, it wonderfully encouraging to see that our future is bright and that we are now out-recruiting the biggest programs.
