Musketeer Madness

TAM has won 13 of its last 14 games played. thus TAM is a 4.5 point favorite to win.

After excluded from the NCAA they have a point to prove. This one will be a tough one. Gonna have to click on all cylinders for 40 minutes, me thinks.

A & M is a team who had a better argument about being IN the tourney than we did. (not that we really had an "argument" per se, but you know what i mean.)

this game will be tough. not expecting to win it at all.

This is my first comment on Muskie Madness in years. At the age of almost 80 and with memories of both XU Bball (and the none existent football) starting from my very early youth, tonight in Spain I´ll light my San Xavier Mission candle and cheer for the Muskies. Normally, I light-up only for the U.C. game, but tonight will be an exception. Go Muskies and give Texas A&M the fight of their lives. From Spain we will be listening and hoping for the second NIT Championship. As a U.C Grad, X has always been my team. Good luck.

Awesome 1st post back!

1st post in couple of years. Now 70, my first bball memories are from 1959 when my cousin Bob Weisenhahn was at UC and my dad took me to a few games. The Big O was the team darling and he started UC on a run of 5 straigth final 4's, though no championships for UC until after Oscar left.
My dad liked X and UC. He told me about the X team that beat Dayton in the 58 NIT Championship and how it felt good for both schools to have
Championships after UC won it all in 1961 when cousin Bob thwarted John Havlicek and earned himself a spot on the Cincy Royals roster for 1 year.
Dad also took me to see Steve Thomas light up Schmidt Fieldhouse. Took me to see an NBA playoff game vs the Celtics in 63 or so because the Gardens was unavailable that night as was the UC Armory. Dad passed at age 50 in 1976. Then it's the NIT in 1984 {?} and I go to the Gardens to watch X beat
Nebraska & Ohio St in the NIT and the Gardens was rocking to the hilt. Then came catalyst Byron Larkin and as a 14 seed beat Mizzou behind Larkin.
I went to UC. In Larkin's junior year I bought a 6 pack of seats. By the 1990 Twin Towers regime I had season tickets until around 2007 when I started wintering in Florida. Tonight I will gleefully watch from my home in the Florida panhandle. Texas A&M has the better team and got hosed by the NCAA.
Well, in 1958 X got in the NIT by the hair of their chinny chin chin. We weren't exactly 1st in line this year either. We should use our Twin Towers together a bit tonight. Finishing 2nd in the NIT is not that special. To many of us older fans, winning the whold damn thing is still AWESOME. Only 2 NCAA teams normally get to start the next season on a winning streak. Enjoy Tonight Folks - this may be the last NIT at MSG. Make it memorable

As an Assistant to the Assistant Moderator, I say "Welcome friend, and XU alum". X is playing with house money. In a couple of years or so, X will be one of the darlings of CBB once again, and world order will be restored.

The NIT Victory represents a marvelous example of the beauty and essence of basketball in general and specifically Xavier. Congratulatione to the Xavier Nation from an "old fart" who during his many years in europe and Spain has never forgotten the tradition and glory of Xavier Bball and,I confess, has missed and never forgotten the years of Xavier Football and the "Little Notre Dame".Curiously, my thoughts went back during the game to anouther X Coach not often mentioned; Ned Wulk and a previos to 1958 NIT: up by 30 points at the half and getting clobbered in the end by a Full Court Press against Bradley. Muskies 100 brought me out of my session of past memories. Once again, congratulations and a toast to the Big Dance in 2023. Hope I´ll still be around.
