Well, the 180 degree turn for the program is complete. Like climbing 75% to the peak of Everest and then falling backwards 8,000 feet. Steele took a program that:
- Made the Tourney (the only what that matters) in 16 of 18 yrs before his arrival.
-Had 3 E8s, and six SW 16s preceding his arrival.
-Had never gone four consecutive years of having a 500 record or below in conference before his arrival.
-Had not lost the first game in the Conference Tourney as prohibitive favorites three years in a row and missed the tourney.
Paul Fritschner tweet: "on Feb 21st: X had a 97.3% chance to make the tourney". A week earlier, they were a projected four seed. Christopher and Steele are elated, b/c they will make the NIT. Neither knows of this other tournament with 68 teams.
BOTP: In going 4-10 down the stretch, Xavier gave away the following 2nd half win probs.
MQuette: 1-23 - 69%.
Prov: 1-26: 80%
DePaul: 2:5: 92%
Johnnies: 2-16: 80%
Prov: 2-23: 85%
Butler: 3-9: 98%.
Steele has had many doozies, but one of my favorites among his classic boomerangs that came to hit him in the face was "1st half scores are over rated." That aged about as well as telling the gullible Christopher he would take X to the Final 2%. Little did Christopher know that he meant he would dwindle a passionate fan base down to 2%.
Too bad that of the two known instances of nepotism (Miller bringing his accomplished brother to be an assistant, or the new HC being the future SIL of one of the biggest boosters) the 2nd one prevailed. One AD was brought up in a culture of winning, and the other was at Bowling Green. Christopher has seen both the men's and women's BB programs free fall under his watch. Hopefully, Hancyz makes a move. Her subordinate who should initiate the change has been castrated.

So will season ticket holders boycott the game? Interesting scenario.

NIT tickets are not included in the season ticket package and have to be purchased separately. Reading AH's posts has become more entertaining than watching Xavier basketball so my wife and I will not be going. We have been season ticket holders more than 25 years and have made the difficult and painful decision not to renew if Steele is still the HC.

XU 85, I’ve never said this to a poster to my knowledge, but this is one of the most insightful posts to grace the board.XU85 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 14, 2022 9:09 amNIT tickets are not included in the season ticket package and have to be purchased separately. Thanks for your support of the players. I will PM you the name of some psychiatrists who specialize in PTSD. They said they will be available immediately after the game, and recommended giving your sharp knives to a neighbor until the season is over for at least seven days.

Can it get any worse. X getting a lot of coverage all negative.I wonder if a home loss to a Mid Major will be the final straw. I hear they are working on shooting FT’s underhand. Missing (16) is still hard to believe.

Thanks for your heartfelt concerns but I'm not the one who choked the last half of the year when they entered BE play... If I were you I'd donate my money to the basketball program... It's the players that are gonna need the psychiatrist if they lose to Cleve St.... Dan
