If TS is still the coach for next year

Postby gundun » Wed Mar 09, 2022 8:19 pm

Can I ask his father-in-law to pay at least half of my annual gift to the AFO? After all, that would be the only reason he would still be here. Yes, I am upset

It won't happen but I really wish Xavier would hire Sean Miller as head coach again. I don't care that Arizona fired him for compliance reasons , he was a good Xs and Os coach I am convinced that X would have two or three more wins this year with the exact same roster with Miller at the helm.

Perhaps the Xavier fan base has been a tad spoiled by lots of success over the past 30-40 years, but it's an absolute disgrace how the team has faltered down the stretch over the past 3 seasons. Three straight seasons with a loss in the first round of the Big East tournament versus a team with a losing record and an RPI greater than 100. That has to be a reflection on the coach. Xavier has never fired a head coach during my time following the program since the early 80s, but I truly believe that needs to change now.

I like Steel and wish him well but hope he is let go. that said, I strongly believe he will be back. Way too much money on the table if he leaves. That said, i do think even if he is back X will be better. Not having to deal with Naji and Scruggs will be a help. Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying they were bad teammates but Steele seemed to bow to them and let them do whatever they wanted.

the $$$ will have ZERO to do with it. i'm guessing there are enough wealthy Xavier Alumni who are upset enough that they would gladly empty their pockets to shell out whatever money Xavier needed to help if they decided to get rid of Steele.

it will NOT be about money if Xavier moves on from Steele. it will be if the new president is ready to step in and make a HUGE decision - and along with it, most likely get rid of Christopher as well as he is part of the problem. overhaul everything. get a new AD who can come in and JUST BE THE AD (not have another title/job like Christopher does) and have that AD go out and get the right coach.

if we don't do that then moving on from Steele is NOT the way to go.

I don't think they'll fire Steele but if they do I don't think they'll bring Miller back.Personally I thought he was our best coach but not sure they want to deal with his baggage. We know what we're getting with Steele and it's not good enough. There's absolutely no reason to be excited about next year. These incoming freshman better be Sato,West and Blueitt good. I'm not sure if I'm more mad or sad.

That's a darn good take Bluegrass. After some soul searching, I would say I am way more sad. Many of us saw this coming as early as late Feb early March last season. I am sad because watching history repeat again this season, I would have thought the proper conclusion would have been now painfully obvious & unanimous. Unfortunately, in reading the tea leaves, seems there will not be enough momentum built up to replace the coaching staff. So as I stated on another thread, instead of beginning now this Spring to right the ship, we will have to ride this bus for another year resulting in a further degradation of our beloved program. Apparently we will not reach that critical mass point until the wheels completely fall off, prospects back out of letters of intent, and key contributors bolt to the transfer portal. Sad that no one in charge has enough foresight to see the writing on the wall.

I will gladly take Sean and his baggage because he can coach.

Precisely why I want him back. I don't care about the baggage, he's always been a solid coach. Even after he left to take the Arizona job, he always spoke highly of Xavier. No reason to not bring him back if he has any interest in doing so.

I'm sure Christopher is hearing it from a lot of people. I'm not sure I have any confidence in him either. Might be time to clean house.
