I want us to get Sean Miller to come back to Xavier. How about that Mr. AD? How about that Ms President? How about that everybody here, and everybody at XavierHoops? How about that!

Re: Sean Miller
Ha Edgecliff, I love your enthusiasm. There is a better chance of you winning the MegaMillions tonight, at precisely the same time I am struck by lightening, than X bringing back Sean to head the program. I will admit that I had some similar feelings while watching his podcast about our loss to the Johnnies yesterday. As for me, I would take Sean back maybe down the road possibly if enough clarity and mea culpas were included - Whereas I would NEVER even remotely consider Vanilla Ice. Ultimately though, us even discussing this just verifies the sorry state of affairs we are currently in...

Sorry, but I learned a long time ago that when someone quits and is asked back, they will surely leave again

Re: Sean Miller
I have no problem with Sean leaving. He could have done it better but that would not prevent me from bringing him back. I don't know the full story of his most recent situation. Was he involved with anything inappropriate at AZ? If not, bring him back.
Who cares if he leaves again if he builds back the program between now and then. If he does build it back to a high level, pay him for his success. Yes someone will be able to offer more but if he is paid well and feels rewarded for his accomplishments, feels the support of the fan base and remembers his earlier success at Xavier plus his current success, he may decide not to leave even if it is for more money.

Re: Sean Miller
Without doubt! He at least had knowledge of what was going on. He is very lucky to not have been directly involved in the criminal investigation!
No one at the D-1 level will touch him with a ten-foot pole for the next few years. I believe there are still NCAA investigations underway. The institution that does take him back will be perceived as a sellout with questionable ethics.pdxmuskie wrote: ↑Fri Feb 18, 2022 11:00 pmYes someone will be able to offer more but if he is paid well and feels rewarded for his accomplishments, feels the support of the fan base and remembers his earlier success at Xavier plus his current success, he may decide not to leave even if it is for more money.
He was probably the best in-game Xs and Os head coach we have ever had. I am sure he now regrets leaving Xavier, and maybe has for a couple years. He may even be willing to accept an offer from Xavier. I am against bringing him back for two reasons. One, hiring him back would project the image that Xavier wants to win at all costs, and that goes against the story of our success to-date. Two, he made his choice and needs to live with the consequences (like Mack); I am fine with these coaches coming back to watch games, reminiscing nostalgically about their Xavier years, and talking us up in various (social) media, but they should never again be our head coach.
Maybe 10-15 years down the road, if Mack or Miller have go on to win an unblemished NC at another institution, I would be fine with them coming back to Xavier to finish their career. That is an unlikely scenario...

Either you're young or very idealistic to want to wait 15 years for a coach. I'd take Miller back tomorrow. Saying people should never be allowed back is ludicrous. Didn't you ever take Theology @ X and hear about Forgiveness? Miller did a great deal of soul searching before he left, and the money was just too big to pass up. I'd venture that he debated way longer than Mack or Matta before leaving. He's made his fortune and would probably be happy until retirement. Plus he's a damn good coach. We not only don't have a head coach, I don't believe any of his current assistants are worth are worth squat either.

Re: Sean Miller
At this point, I don't care what Miller did at AZ, bring him back to Xavier. We need a coach that understands basketball and player development. Miller was great at both. I can see a 3 loss team this year if Miller was coach. Same players, just different playing time, different offense, intense defense. Life would be good.
Have him say a few prayers as penance but for the love of God, bring him back to Xavier.

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.
