Class of 2022 Oak Hill Guard Judah Mintz is due to visit Xavier January 25-27th. The Muskateers are looking to add their 4th 4-star recruit to the class. Mintz is arguably the best remaining guard remaining in the class. He originally committed to Pittsburgh over the summer, but has since de-committed. Has had a great year with Oak Hill.

Check out this in-depth breakdown of his game written over the summer: https://www.pointguardeyes.com/judah-mintz-2021.

posted about Judah on the recruit thread but now that Desmond is in the fold not sure they would go after Judah that hard. Let's see if they still are active and this would be insurance to see who signs first.

Scruggs, Stanley, Johnson and Kunkel are all listed as seniors. Are they all leaving? Or is there eligibility left for some due to covid? If they are all leaving then I would assume a talented guard would not be pushed away. Getting a big would be huge but unless they have expectations of filling that void, I'd take the additional highly rated guard.

A transfer out of the program is very possible, creating another opening.

Yea,

The post position needs much more attention. X will have 9 players who can play 1-3 next year with the incoming freshmen. There is no guarantee that Nunge is coming back (we're screwed if he doesn't). X hasn't exactly been Development U, particularly with our post players the last few years. Since he has seen precious few minutes, we have no idea if Edwards can contribute, and I don't think Miles is playing more than 3 minutes a game since Free came back. Interior D has suffered for it.

Cancel Mintz's visit, and go after a big.

the coaches are on some big guys for the following year so they must know how things will pan out for next year. Of course, things can change and normally do but IF Nunge leaves the bet is another transfer will be sought. Keep the team older(experienced) is something many coaches are trying to do

For the team's, and more importantly his sake, I hope Tandy transfers. Kunkel is clearly a greater asset, and X has three guys coming in who will compete for playing time. I want him to get a chance to play in his college career. It will also open up a scholly for a big, but again, I want the best for Kyky first and foremost.

Even assuming Nunge stays, X should get a big for this class if at all possible. Most centers take a year to develop.

I agree with the sentiments regarding Tandy. I'd be shocked if he gets big minutes at X and suspect he would have fun playing somewhere. If he wants to stay, then he certainly should but I wouldn't expect significant playing time.

Covid year doesn’t count. Stanley and Kunkel can both return and be eligible.

I’m also of the opinion that the scholarships are not going to be capped at 13 because of the allowance for extra years of eligibility for so many players. However, I also believe that most schools will not want to carry extra people on the scholarship roles and/or the roster. Therefore, while I see some players being encouraged to transfer, those same players may find it difficult to find a new home. Bottom line is that there are going to be more players wanting positions on teams then there are openings for them. Players that are seen as NOT being able to contribute are going to be pushed out by freshman that show more ability or potential. Some of the mid-major schools are going to get some really good players as transfers. It’s going to take at least 3-4 years for all of this to shake out.
