I am curious what the board thinks about our assistant coaches.
Obviously the head coach is ultimately responsible for a team's performance. The head coach will have final say.
That said, I am not close enough to the program to answer any of the following questions:
Do our assistant coaches just go along to get along?
Does Steale just not accept any of their recommendations?
Do they just not know anything about college basketball either, and that is why they were hired?
Are there any closed door meetings of just coaches on non game days to discuss how to improve the team?
If so, does Steale just reject any and every change?
Or do they not offer any?
Are they just yes men?

I hope you are being sarcastic!
Coaches do the scouting and set up the way to attack teams. They are responsible for either guards or big men or fitness.
True the head coach is over everyone and the final responsibility is on his head but if you watch time outs or when a player comes out an assistant will be talking to this player or that player outlining what they are doing wrong or right and pointing out what the other team is trying to do to them. If you come to games early you will see certain coaches with certain players every game working on some aspect of their shooting.
When Skip was at X he had Jeff Battle as his big man and his guard coach and he turned out some very good players including David West. Went to Wake and had some good big men Eric Williams, Kyle Visser, and some good guards Chris Paul and Ishmael Smith. Pete had Louis Orr as his big man assistant and we all remember T Hill, A Williams, and D Strong.
Chris had Pat Kelsey as an assistant for the guards and then for Big men.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. DO you really want a coach to tell a player to stop shooting? I mean Nate was perfect in the first half but was 0fer in the second half Last night X shot terrible in the second half but only 2 guys shot 4 or more three the whole game and the one that shot 9 was Nate which even AH and others think should be the only guy taking threes. What they need to do is everyone else needs to rebound. They spread the floor and everyone that is out there needs to go rebound, 5 O rebounds is not enough
