Morehead St thread

Postby muskieman » Wed Dec 15, 2021 1:11 pm

AH's favorite named team visits CIntas tonight. Morehead is in the Ohio Valley Conference
Additionally to make AH happy Kyky will be available tonight. Unfortunately, Edwards and Miles might not play because of illness.

Morehead St. (6-4) coming off a loss to East Tennessee St 82-75. They have played two named schools in Miss St and Auburn and in those games have not scored well 46 and 54 points. Also, Georgia Southern held them to 59 points in their loss to Morehead.

Lead by their center and best player JOHNI BROOME (6'10" 235 lbs Covid Freshman 2nd year Center) with 24 pts, 13 rebounds, 5 assists. He averages 15.2 points and 10 rebounds and 3.8 blocks per game. Good inside defender and draws fouls but shoots 60.9% from the foul line. Good length and run the floor.

Their point guard Ta'lon Cooper (6-4, 190 lbs) As a sophomore is averaging 11.7 points (40.8% FG, 31.6% 3PT), 4.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.4 steals, and 3.3 turnovers in 30.1 minutes per game. He is quick and has good size for a point with good athleticism. Guarding him a defender must be aware he can shoot the deep ball but also the mid-range shot

2 guard who sometimes plays point is Tray Hollowell SR (6-3, 185lbs) doesn't have the handle of Cooper but can shoot a spot-up three. He averages 13.4 points (50% FG, 47.5% 3PT) averaging 28.3 minutes

Sm Forward Skyelar Potter JR (6-3, 198 lbs) they run set plays to get him open, and if so he shoots 41% from the field and 37% from threes. Averages 11.6 and 6.1 rebounds. From the line 71%

Forward Jake Wolfe JR (6-5, 200 lbs) gives up size inside even if Jones is playing the 4. Averages 6.5 pts. rebounds 2.5, FG% 50.0 a position X needs to exploit.

Their bench has Wright State transfer in Jaylon Hall, Jaylen Sebree 6-7 forward, freshman guard Drew Thelwell who plays very little (must be the Kyky of their team), LJ Bryan 6-9, 235lbs. plays about 9 minutes and averages 3 points.

If Miles and Edwards can not play tonight that means more minutes for Jack, Zack and Jerome

Morehead averages 68.7 points per game and holds opponents 65.6 they average 45.3% from the field and 35.6% from threes. As a team shoots 63.2% from the line Ken Pom ranks them 145th overall In Team Ranking Morehead ranks 252 in Team Defensive Efficiency X ranks 11th Team Ranking has spread at -15

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

That would hurt if both Miles and Edwards are out. Their center, by far the most talented guy on their team, is the only way MSt has a fighter's chance. He's too big for both Hunter and Free, so Jack will have to stay out of foul trouble. Hopefully, Jack and Free can get him into foul trouble as well.

Hunter or Ben playing the four

I like Nate helping out on their big guy. That is twice he has knocked it out of the big guy's hand when he looked like he had a bunny. Back to back triples by Adam 38-15

Travis has generally done a good job this year. Started a bit rocky with high turnovers and bad shot selection but steadily improving.

That being said, Freemantle is not a starter.

Freemantle is an excellent 6th man. Offensive prowess but defensive inefficiencies. He also is a great pairing with Miles. Nunge plays both ends at a high level and is a great pairing with Hunter.

Lineups will obviously get mixed up as the game goes on but that is directionally correct.

why does Xavier's D and scrambling put a smile on a guy's face? Where can we get another guy like Jack?
