Freemantle out 6-8 weeks.
actually don't mind this at all. let our other bigs play through the non-conf schedule and get some good experience. so what if we take an L or 2 because he's missing. get him back for BE schedule.
our depth will be tested early and that's fine.
let's see how they respond.

Re: Freemantle Injury Update
This is not good.First team All BE player.I know we are deep but you don't want to lose a star player. If he's out that long, it will take at least another few weeks to get back to where he needs to be in terms of game shape.

Re: Freemantle Injury Update
Our offense will suffer, but defense will be better. Steele acted like he was fine a week and a half ago.

Re: Freemantle Injury Update
injuries, especially lower leg/foot ones, tend to change sometimes. not sure if he said "fine" but i thought maybe he said he thought he'd be ready for the season. i suppose you'll find a way to blame Steele for Freemantle's injury.
either way, he goes by what the doctors/trainers tell him and then if it changes, what can he say/do? it is what it is. my guess is we will play "smaller" at times with Colby and Hunter playing the 4 more often and that's ok.
if Nunge is 100% to start the season i think our starting 5 is:
Scruggs
Nate
Colby
Hunter
Nunge
play big to start. mix it up when need to go smaller and run. pound it inside when we have size advantage vs some teams.
i don't think we will be better without Freemantle, but we may end up better in Feb/March because of this.
we shall see.

Re: Freemantle Injury Update
If Jones is playing the 4 this year we are in trouble. We had to have him and Wilcher get abused way to much at the four last year. Nunge is the key, hopefully he is healthy which is a big if.

Re: Freemantle Injury Update
why would you play Jones as a 4 for any considerable amount of time with Hunter, Stanley, Miles, Edwards, and Nunge at 4 or 5? Appears you are trying to set up a false narrative.
I hope that Freemantle does not come back too soon and that time is used to give Edwards, Miles, Hunter, and Stanley time to grow on the court
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Re: Freemantle Injury Update
Jones and Wilcher both played the four at times last year due to depth and the ineffectiveness of Carter. Why didn't Miles play more last year? Who knows. Depth is better this year, however with Free out and Nunge and Stanley both coming off severe injuries Hunter and Miles will have to step up. With Steele you never know.

Re: Freemantle Injury Update
What has last year got to do with this year? I know you are just trying to stir the pot and admire that. Now look at the roster, and as you say X has greater depth so let’s see what we have before we proclaim the sky is falling. I'd rather speculate on X’s first starting lineup. Hunter is an interesting piece. I1 inch shorter and one lb lighter than Freemantle but possible more athletic and has been through the Big10 wars like Nunge. They might make a good pair and certainly should be of help to Miles and Edwards

Re: Freemantle Injury Update
X will certainly miss him. To some peoples point, i hope this helps the other guys down the road as long as they don't any bad game. Their non-conference schedule isnt great except OSU and perhaps a team from NIT but would have loved to have him vs UC. Stanley is going to have to carry a big load on the interior offensive side which up until he got injured, i thought he was playing very well. This team will have to shoot real well to win tough games without Freemantle. I still take X -22 in their opening game.
