It was well known when he left that he was recruiting for UL, but worse, he had fully mentally left X and had effectively abandoned the team with the best chance ever, IMO, to get to the FF.Anti-Homer wrote: ↑Sat Aug 28, 2021 9:46 amAt the time, I had no problem with Mack leaving X, b/c that's his prerogative like anyone else. However, when I read an article about David Johnson saying that during Mack's recruitment of him, he claimed CM told him, "You can play for me whether at X or L-VIlle." The next year, X had one of their worst recruiting classes in the last couple of decades. Coinicdence? Me thinks not.
Many on this board have talked during the years about what an obnoxious tool CM was in high school. Who knows whether that's true or not, but secretly recording the exit discussions with two close friends adds a lot of credibility to the narrative of the former. One thing I know for sure: Bruiser Flint would never have done that.
I agree...my issue wasn't that he left, but that he quit working for X a year and a half before he went to Louisville.Anti-Homer wrote: ↑Sat Aug 28, 2021 9:46 amAt the time, I had no problem with Mack leaving X, b/c that's his prerogative like anyone else. I agree as well. I never have a problem with coaches leaving for what they see as better jobs. I do have a problem when they aren't honest with their dealings with Xavier. Matta and Mack were major offenders here, but Mack was in a league by himself. I remember during that last season how strange it was that Xavier kept missing on its recruiting targets, something that does happen but not to EVERY one of them. And then the team basically quit during the BEast and NCAA tournaments. It all became obvious as to why this occurred when Mack bolted.XU2011 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 9:52 amI agree...my issue wasn't that he left, but that he quit working for X a year and a half before he went to Louisville.Anti-Homer wrote: ↑Sat Aug 28, 2021 9:46 amAt the time, I had no problem with Mack leaving X, b/c that's his prerogative like anyone else.
