said to have helped to create better versions of Tyrique Jones and Zach Hankins. His Bio says, Hayes’ role will be critical to this year’s team with young big men to mentor like Dieonte Miles, Daniel Ramsey and Zach Freemantle, as well as veterans Jason Carter, Bryan Griffin and Ben Stanley. SO what has he done lately with Freemantle, Carter, Miles, and Griffin?

He can go.
Jones was not a great player. He knew what he was good at and I greatly appreciate that in a player. He rebounded well and defended. He took shots he knew he could make. Those are great traits. His offense was incredibly limited.
If I recall, Hankins was versatile when he came in. I don't have a good take on Hankins because that was 1 of the years I couldn't stomach watching X. Issue wasn't with Hankins but the overall decision making of the team. Based on what I did see, Hankins had a full arsenal when he came to X.
Miles was raw coming in. He was a project so I don't know if his lack of development is Miles or if he is not getting good instruction.
Ramsey has had injury issues so he is not a factor in the evaluation. Unless of course his injuries haven't been an issue for awhile and he simply isn't good enough to see the court. If that is the case then this is a huge fail.
Stanley was injured so no comment.
Free can't play defense to save his life. He has no understanding of a good shot vs. a gift to the other team. His offense is very good but I'm not sure if he is even a net positive most games.
Carter did all the little things the first half of the season. Somewhere along the line, he either stopped or couldn't do those things. Rebounds ended. Defense became inconsistent, etc. His offense has been horrific.
Griffin gets no minutes so hard to know what his talent and misgivings are.
After breaking that down, Jonas needs to find a new career. Best of luck to him.

You know I put this thread up here just to get some perspective and you made some very good points. I will say that Ramsey's knee problems is much more than people know. They saw him play 4 minutes and that was about as best as we can expect. His knees are basically bone on bone and people that know the game better than you or me say it is a miracle he was able to play. My sense is he was given shot so he could say he played at the D-1 level in the BE and if he goes somewhere else it could not be a top-level team but somewhere he will not be playing big minutes in any consecutive games. Then again I believe in medical miracles.
I sat with Jonas when he first came to X and everything they say about him being able to be the nicest guy at the table is true BUT I'd rather have a ***** like Thadd that can turn crap into roses.
Ot maybe it is just a Covid year and teams that start great end poorly and the reasons are many

Bone on bone is nasty. I'm not sure of the medical options available but he is done unless he want to literally grind through games.
I'm sure Jonas is a great guy but in my opinion, he has not made a difference. I do feel more for letting a guy like Jonas go as he is not making the big money like a head coach but I'm sure he can go to another program or find another occupation. That is why everyone should always save money every year. Yes the Trump/Biden government has given handouts to everyone but that may not always be the case.

I hope it is not the case. You know Ben Johnson or Jonas could go but I'd rather have the head coach sit down with them and tell them they are not cutting the mustard and either get them help or they are gone.
People always talk about coaches you might hire but I'd hate to pull the cord on Travis and have him turn out to be a coach K type or Bill Belichick coach somewhere else. After all Coach K was not a world-beater at Army with a .553 winning record and was below .500 record in 3 of his 5 years there and was 38-47 in his first three years at Duke.

If X showed any signs of playing defense, I might be concerned that Travis would become a great coach.
No offensive discipline, no defense, no effective substitutions. I just don't see Travis being the next coach K.
I'm willing to consider that as a possibility if someone can tell me what they say that says he could be.
