11 PPDs and a 2-5 finish, so far
It has been a crazy season. Eleven PPD games and a 2-5 finish does not help. The selection Committee always looks at how teams finish and are there key players lost for the tournament. All the above is a negative for X being selected.

Aside from Joe Biden, no one benefitted more from Covid than Travis Steele.
Lose to DePaul to get knocked off the bubble last year. Tourney cancelled and no Selection Show so some can still pretend we had a chance.
13 home games vs only 7 roadies in 2020.
Missed 2 games versus Nova, 1 road game versus SHU, and 1 road game versus UConn. What would our conference record have been with a full schedule? Worse than it is now.
As it stands, we are somehow 2 wins away from being back on the bubble despite inconsistent play and coaching all year long.

Ironically, a bad season at X would be a celebrated one at UC. Despite the subpar year X is having, it is due to the standard: X has been one of the most successful teams in the tourney over the last two decades. The sh+t show across town is far worse, where UC is flailing in an average mid-major league. X would be the 2nd best team in that league. UC made the tourney 8 straight years (?), since they play in a team littered with middling programs, though would have missed last year along with X. Their lack of success in the tourney even as a high seed validates that they were-are paper tigers.
Despite that, X has as many Sw 16 wins, and only 2 less E8s in the tourney in the last two decades that UC does tourney wins. Here I go again turning lemons into lemonade.

Not sure where the UC talk came from? Has nothing to do with us.
But last year UC won the AAC and would have made the dance for a 10th consecutive time.
Both programs are trending downward regardless.
