Is there any news of the NCAA deciding to allow all transfers to be permitted to join their respective teams immediately? If so, Xavier would be allowed to dress and play Ben Stanley immediately and, in doing so, add great depth to a relatively light Center position. A very good and deep Xavier team at this juncture could turn into a team with few, if any, weak spots.

I thought they said the 15th or 16th so maybe tomorrow or the next day if they hold to their original report

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Stanley is only 6’6”, so not sure how much help he will be at the center position. However, being 230 and strong he should provide some depth in the forward position. Just don’t see him guarding the 6’9”-7 ft players that many BE teams have.

Re: NCAA Decision on transfers
kyz, I believe you underestimate Big Ben. He’s a grown man, and in b-ball, it ain’t all about height. Take our beloved young pup D. Miles. Miles is nearly 6-11 yet struggles to compete for rebounds. Dennis Rodman was barely 6-8 yet yr after yr led the NBA in boards. Chuck Barclay was listed at 6-6, yet he was closer to 6-4, look it up! Yet Sir Charles was a devil of an offensive rebounder in every level of play he completed in, including the NBA. It aint never the size of the dog in the fight, but rather it’s always the size of the fight in the dog that matters. 6-6, 230, in a grown-ass man who plays like he’s a foreman on the loading docks, hell yes- — - - sign me up...

Re: NCAA Decision on transfers
I do think he will help and be able to do some damage down low, including rebounding. However, I just don’t see him successfully guarding many of the CENTERS in the BE....and the comment was made that he would help at the Center position. The fact that X has moved away from traditional center, like Jones was, this year and moved into what is known as an “open center” offense is a by-product of the personal X has. So offensively, and possibly even from a rebounding standpoint, Stanley may well be out on the floor in place of Miles, Fremantle, or Griffin. However, I do believe that when it comes to guarding those traditional centers that some of the other teams have, he will be a decided disadvantage because of his lack of height. They are going to shoot right over top of him from around the basket. Several BE schools have 2-3 players that can fill the traditional center position and measure anywhere from 6’9” to 7’0”. When they put 2 out on the floor at the same time, X will be at a decided disadvantage defensively if they have Stanley on the floor trying to guard one of those players.

Stanley would make a huge difference especially is Carter is being ineffective like he has the last few games. Stanley can rebound, score, and defend.

Re: NCAA Decision on transfers
I think Carter brings more than baskets to his game and to say "Carter is being ineffective" is a stretch after all he is X's rebound leader and percentage-wise is the best FT shooter except for CJ's 1-1

Carter did not play well the last two games and tends to do that against bigger and better bigs and he prone to the bad three point shot. We will need Griffin and Stanley for BE

The best player on the team is always the one who everyone is waiting to get eligible and play. Before we anoint Stanley as the savior shouldn’t we at least see him play?

No, no he plays best in our imaginations, and as a cheer leader off the floor. Reality can be a dud.
