Things I Hope to Never See Again

Things I hope to never see again:
- Goodin shooting a three.
- Goodin playing more than 10 minutes a game.
- Naji with the ball up top at the end of the Half.
- Naji trying to go coast-to-coast with the ball in his typical out-of-control manner.
- Jones’s penchant for the tomahawk/hammer dunk, which by bringing the ball so far back behind his head, too often enables opponents to disrupt his effort.
- Steele having the Team foul when down by 10 or more, with less than 30 seconds to go.
- Moore shooting a three and Tandy on the bench.
- Opponents going on runs of 8 points or more and a time-out not being used.
- Threes constituting more than 25% or more of X’s shot selection.
Other thoughts are welcomed, including disagreements.

Post of the year, with one addition, though it goes against the theme of the post. Steele acquaints himself with this newfangled defense EVERY OTHER TEAM IN THE NCAA EMPLOYS CALLED A ZONE.

I don't know about zoning CT, 9/23 on the road from 3 and 16/19 from the line, me thinks it would be the same or worse. On the other hand, an opposing coach who does not zone X is flirting with early retirement, particularly on the road. Moore/Goodin, 0/12. Probably can't get much worse on the road.

Always rebuilding with new coaches.(the program gets a one seed, loses in the second round, loses the coach and recruits and starts rebuilding again and again)

If I see Jones and Q out of their spots defensively on the high ball screen I will puke. This “experienced” team might not win six Big East game. What also is concerning is how we were out rebounded in the first half at home against a bad rebounding team. Isn’t Moore supposed to be a shooter? Down three and Naji out of control dribbles off his foot, that’s XU hoops this past two years. The player development needs to be questioned

I'm speaking of having that in your defensive arsenal period. Frankly, when X started to get grilled on high ball screens on 5 of 6 possessions, I think a change to a zone for 3-4 possessions, just to disrupt their rhythm, couldn't hurt. Steele seems oblivious to in game adjustments. They clearly had an advantage in the post, but instead shot 10 early treys in the 1st half, including 5 from noted sharp shooter Q. Steele's advice during a timeout. "Have fun," I hope they enjoyed their orange slices and Capri Suns at halftime.

“Have fun”, while McDermott is actually coaching and pointing out important items.
