Mack's buy out

Recently I had said that I thought that Louisville HAD paid XU for a buy out. Bingo - On the front page of the Equirer sports page they announced that Louisville paid XU 5.5 million to settle the final years of his contract. So XU did not come away emptied handed when he left. It's a good article. He is ( by USA TODAY survey) the sixth highest paid coach. Wonder why he left? Go Xavier!

Kind of like a Rookie of the Year award for coaches.
Never heard of the award before.
Wonder what the criteria is for being 1st year coach?
Does our former coach meet criteria for the award?

Good for Coach Steele.
KenPom pre-season rankings had X 8th in BE.
Finished tied for 3rd place.

Award is for all 1st year coaches, not coaches that are at their first year at a new school, i.e Mack.
Probably Penny Hardaway is biggest name on the list and the probable favorite.
