Weird atmosphere evolving here. Never have I seen this board so quiet on the eve of the freaking Shootout. Mr. Neutral would be ashamed of us....! I think we all are suffering an overall hangover still from the massive way last year came to a crashing unexpected halt only to have the cherry placed on top when Mack bolted. Let's get back on the horse mates. So what we are heavy underdogs tomorrow. Win or lose I am looking for some additional improvement. Then we can discuss the good, the bad and possibly the ugly - but this MM board could use some enthusiasm in general and an ability to not view our current reality through the prism of last season. Screw those smug Bearcats. To hell with the garden gnome. Sit and spin on it Mr. & Mrs. UC fan! Now let's go kick their a$$. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor....? I too am disappointed by the lack of enthusiasm on this board. However, I have a legitimate excuse. On the eve of the Shootout, as usual, I Muskienick, and LLS snuck a Polar Bear into the Dean’s office at UC. Then, we lit a bag of excrement on the porch of the CEO of the UC Board, a very elegant man https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20D-kf9moX0. Mnick insisted we get elephant dung from the zoo, since he says it burns 4 minutes longer on average than humans. I resisted asking him how he knew that. On a side note, despite doing this on Shadow’s orders, he refuses to let me expense the admission ticket.

To cap off the evening, we went back to Mn’s house and ordered two large pizzas to the Cronin residence. I thought it was over the line, but LLS ordered anchovies and hot sauce on one of them and requested plates and napkins for only two people. He was still giggling like a school girl when I left the house. Long, exhausting evening. My head didn’t hit the pillow until about 8:50.

My head says UC wins by 8, but my heart says X squeaks by, 72-70. If the latter occurs, Scruggs has 15 points and Cumberland gets into early foul trouble. Statistically, these two teams have very similar stats, including averaging 12 turnovers a game. The problem for X is that many of them seem to lead to easy buckets because they make a lot of them on long, cross-court passes, giving the defender a running start and transition points.

Goodin MUST play like a traditional point guard, and not try and channel Bluiett again. Two advantages X has are that UC has two small guards who play a lot in Broome and Jennifer. They need to take them to the hole and post them up. UC will concede treys all game, so hopefully, the right guys take them, namely Scruggs (whose percentage is now 43% from 3 point land), Welage, Harden, & Castlin.

The other advantage is Marshall. I don't think UC has a quick enough lengthy wing to guard him. He needs to make a living driving in the lane for short jumpers.

Since last year's game, I have written a daily email to Fox, requesting that the game be put on a 7 second delay, in case they accidentally zoom in on a close up shot of Cronin smiling. My eyes still water when I see him on T.V. Same thing that happens when Muskieman watches a Sandra Bullock movie, or The Bachelor.
