Way Too Early Top 25

And these polls (there are several of them) are just that, but nevertheless a couple of things stood out.

First, the Sporting News Poll actually has X a #22. I was honestly very surprised to see our name show up in any of these polls. Others do not have us listed. Impressive since we have a new coach and lost a lot of talent.

Second, however, and more interesting (alarming maybe) is that outside of our placement in the SN poll only one other Big East Team, Villanova, made it into the polls at all. I had noted toward the end of the season to my X friends that the BE was losing a lot of experience and talent top to bottom (except perhaps Nova), so from that standpoint I am not surprised that no others are listed. As always I expect a couple of sleepers to rise to the top and be ranked as the season goes on. However, the OCC season will be very important to the BE IMO to maintaining our place as one of the top conferences in the country.

I am not sure how the incoming classes for the other BE schools stack up but hopefully they, with some good transfers and grad transfers, will right the ship.

I'm not sure about all BE teams, but I'd bet Georgetown and St. Johns are a handful next year. They were young this year and GT had a first year coach. Hopefully they have a stronger OOC schedule next year, but both those will compete in the BE next year.

And ESPN has us as an 8 seed playing Nebraska in the Midwest region. Let the Madness begin!
