Looks Like Louisville Hasn't Approved Mack Contract Yet

Postby XU80 » Wed Mar 28, 2018 7:43 am

Got a retweet from my son last night showing University of Louisville Spokesman, John Karman saying the following Please consider the following statement in any coverage of our coaching vacancy this evening. You can attribute to me. "Reports that the University of Louisville has hired a men's basketball coach are premature. There is no contract. The appropriate Boards have not yet met to consider a contract. Nor are the board members aware of any terms in a potential contract".

OOPS. Makes you feel like it is April Fools, but it's not and have seen this reported in several news outlets. To be clear, it won't change the outcome but pretty embarrassing and speaks to the continued disarray. Enjoy your new environment. Looks like a circus to me.

Read same. Just curious how Mack meets with team yesterday and XU AD has press conference (also yesterday) prior to a signed deal. Maybe it works differently with coaches, but that just seems very "cart before the horse". Maybe just a formality, but the fact UL comes out with statement late yesterday is interesting to say the least.

Maybe it was done to make UofL get off their duff and get the ball rolling. Chris probably said I have recruits that I want to offer and want to do it sooner rather than later.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

It's a formality that the Trustees have to approve a contract of that magnitude. The new AD seems like a pretty sharp fellow. I kind of doubt he's out their freelancing for a coach.

Maybe Chris had a signed LOI in hand and went with that (ala univ. of Tennessee football situation recently).

Louisville is truly a sh_ _show. they wanted to wait until today and have this big formal announcement but Mack going to his friends in the media and they tweeted out. Mack calling recruits makes them look worse if they haven't signed anything. Not to mention the huge matzah ball hanging out there by asking permission to speak to Kenny Payne. The contract has been signed but they really wanted to make a splash today and at Final Four. X press conference was good because it affected this as well. Frankly, X should have come out earlier.
