i'm not crushed by any stretch if Mack leaves but don't think its as much of a money grab. When he got the head coaching job, I always heard his dream jobs were Louisville and ND. Also, he was offered $4 million by GT last year and a pretty good opportunity from IND and/or OSU. Louisville is a perfect storm for Mack. "Dream job" and leaving on a possible down year from X-oh and the money is generational. The irony is that while I believe X has offered a huge raise, Mack is able to leverage because of the Louisville mess. If Louisville wasn't open, would he really deserve that big a raise. After the 2015-2016 season, many fans questioned him. Team was a bubble team again and had a mediocre regular season. Last year (although injuries hurt them), the team really struggled. His perceived "greatness" appears to be on the heels of a great tourney run last year and BE regular season championship. Don't get me wrong as there is a positive trajectory but due to his efforts (or lack thereof), X has 1 Sr and 2 Jrs next year (if they stay). Their incoming class is ranked 51 nationally and 6 of 10 teams in the BE. I find it ironic that both Miller and Matta who left for $$$ greener $$$ pastures would like to come back (or so i've heard). My guess is Mack will go to Louisville. Matta and Miller immediately had great success at OSU and Zone. Mack will not have it as easy given some of the constraints (FBI/NCAA). I don't believe they get anywhere near the death penalty but the longer it actually takes for them to get through this, the harder it will be for him to recruit. If Mack can do X any favors, he makes his decision tonight and it will be announced tomorrow in conjunction with the new AD. We all read how Louisville requested permission to speak to Kenny Payne, If that is the case and they announce Mack tomorrow, Louisville will look really bad yet again.

Not even close. CM's teams have won A-10 and Big East championships. At least his teams have won a few "division titles". Kirk Cousin's is benefiting from a weak quarterback free agency market and a big demand for anything that resembles a serviceable quarterback... What's a Cousin's lead team ever won???... Dan

Maybe so but be careful what you wish for. We could sign a career average coach for a wad of guaranteed money like the skins did with Alex Smith. We take for grabted X’s ability to backfill the head coaching vacancy like they have. Trivia question most wont get without Google, who is the last coach X has had to fire?

The BIG ADJUSTMENT THEIR COACH MADE was give the ball to Brunson and let him go to work. Brunson is amazing the way he can take control of a game. He either scores or assists. Compare rosters - Brunson vs Goodin, Paschall vs Naji, Bridges vs Trevon, Spellman vs any of or Bigs, Booth vs J.P., Divincenzo vs Scruggs, Roundtree vs Gates. XU still does the reputation as Nova. We are gaining but we are not there yet. We tried to get Samuels last year and he choose Nova. We tried hard to get Swider this year and he choose Nova. Nova just picked Quinerly (5*) and they signed another 4* named Slater. Nova has a much higher NAME RECOGNITION than Xavier. If anyone really watched the game it was all Brunson and we do not have a player like that. XU still had a GREAT year. We all should be pulling for Nova to win another National Championship. Go Xavier!

Agree jct1941 about Brunson. I would disagree that X is getting much closer and the gap may widen even more next year. Yes they won the BE but got blown out twice to Nova during the year. Providence, St Johns, and Butler found ways to beat Nova regardless of that great Nova roster.

I don't consider this a great season when you lose games with big leads, get blown out twice by Nova, lose to a #9 seed in the 2nd round again blowing a late lead, high turnovers a problem all season, allowing high 80's or 90 points several times (65pts in one half). Now I would consider Loyola having a great season. Probably will be rough for a while but may be a change isn't so bad after all. If our coaches are already recruiting players for sleazey Pintoville I hope their program is penalized big time by the NCAA.

Mack's team lost 2 of last 3 games after blowing double digit leads. My only concern are recruits. Mack has done a good job recruiting but not great in game coach. Last year X had a great run but other than that, pretty disappointing. Although was nice when Ga St and Lehigh beat Baylor and Duke as 3 and 2 seeds. Louisville wanted an elite coach but none were available but timing perfect for Mack. They just need to announce and move on
