Three-headed beast

I am impressed by our three-headed beast: Kanter, O'Mara and Jones.

Collectively, they went for 32 points, 10 boards, 3 blocks, 1 steal. in 49 minutes. They had only 1 turnover and 2 fouls. The only blemish was 10-17 from the line. But that will be qualified below.

I am particularly impressed by Jones.

Tyrique has lost his starting role, in part due to a minor injury, in part due to Kanter's ability to stretch the defense without giving up much, if anything, in the post.

How would the average talented sophomore respond to that? One who is physically stronger and more athletic than the guys he's competing with for PT?

Tyrique came off the bench against GW, and scored 15 points in only 20 minutes. He was going 1-2 each trip all game (as his average would predict), but went 4-4 from the line in OT. He misses one of those and we may have lost in OT.

Trevon deserves the spolight for his clutch performance. But Tyrique was clutch too!

FT shooting was clutch in the OT.
X went 10-10 and didn't make a FG but still won.
As mentioned, Basketball went 4-4, Q made 2 as did Tre and JP.
As a team they were shooting about 67% up to the OT but made them when they needed to.

I think Jones was a better, more physical match up against Gtown's bigs.
That's the great thing about X's bigs, it gives Mack options each game as to who might be the better match up.
That's why they are the Big Nasty Boys. They each bring different strengths to the team.
It will be interesting to see how the Butler game goes on Tuesday as Kanter did not play in the 1st game but the Big Irish had a big game.
