Xavier Potential

The numbers behind the game show, how good this Xavier Team can be when they take care of the Basketball and play defense with intensity.

Only eight turnovers, one by our PGs, 21 assists and the defense held Marquette's 3pt shooters well below their average. The perimeter defense was as good as it's been all season. 10 games to go to set up our seeding for the Dance, let's hope this is the team we expected to see all season. After two once sided wins against Creighton and now Marquette with a big road win at Seton Hall, we have momentum and the swagger back.

Next up St. Johns, a team that will play with confidence given they were in the game at the Cintas until the end. We need to keep up our focus and get off to a fast start to remove that confidence and take care of business.

That was Xs best game of the year by far -offense and defense. Marquette however is a good offensive team but a horrid defensive team. I'm more impressed with what X did at Seton Hall (2nd half). X needs to take care of business throughout the rest of the year. I can see X losing to Nova and possibly Butler at Butler. If so, they are looking at a low 2 or high 3 seed.

IMO, better chance to lose at Creighton than at Butler, but let's hope we can win one or both. That 4 game stretch with those two road games and Villanova and Seton Hall here will go a long way in determining our seed.

If we only lose those two games we'll have 5 losses (6 if we lose in the conference tourney). we'd end up in the 27-6 or 28-6 range. That's a high two more than likely this season maybe even a one.
