Who ruined Musketeer Madness?

Postby Pierre Dracot » Mon Jun 02, 2008 8:47 pm

Why is the same thread always at the top?

You mean the One and Done rule and the Summer League Schedule threads? Someone made them "Stickies" which keeps them at the top.

So unstick them ... and make "stickies" a mortal sin.
Hell "One and Done" hasn't had a reply since last Thursday .. and "Summer League" hasn't had one in 17 days.
Stickies are SICK!

I don't mind stickies but they should be set apart from regular threads by an obvious border like they are on other boards like XU Hoops and the A-10 site.

This board is hardly "ruined" however by the stickies-placement.

Pierre's had 1 post since March 23rd, and THIS is the burning topic he comes back to the board with??????

When I saw the subject heading, I thought his answer would be something more provocative (and there's more than one likely suspect), but no.

We're debating stickies; you can tell it's the offseason.

But as long as we are talking about improvements to this board, is there any reason ($?) why there is no provision for posters to have avatars? I realize some can be a little controversial, but they certainly would remove the sterile look of this board and, if limited to some pre-determined criteria (e.g. no naked ladies, etc.) like the A-10 board seems to be, it would make the appearance of the board more inviting.

I realize we are in the off-season, but this board is not being frequented to the same extent that its fellow free Muskie Board is visited. Avatars may be one small reason why. Another reason would be the variety of sub-boards the XU Hoops board has available (Discussions specifically on A-10 matters, XU recruiting, OT subjects, controversial topics, other sports in general, etc.). But this board has the benefit of being linked directly from the Skeldon's Musketeer Madness website. And it also has Gary's many posts that link us all to interesting tidbits that relate directly or indirectly to Muskie matters.

Sadly, little by little, the disparity in the number of posters between this board and the other is widening even with the presence here of MOR, muskieman, wkrq59 and others who provide us all with great takes. If it is possible to pump a little more life into this board under any current restrictions of which I am unaware, I'd suggest that it be done.

I'd bet there are plenty of us out here who would ante up a reasonable amount of cash to be supporting members of this board to make it even better than it already is.

Your thoughts and comments are always welcome, nick, and I've passed them on the the board owner/operator.

I miss nuts' photos of hot babes. For that matter, I miss hot babes.

So, in the meantime, here's my suggestion for A10 commissioner, which was shockingly ignored-

Pierre in the past all through the spring and summer we would get posters that ask, "anyone know the schedule for the summer league" So rather then clutter the board with 6 to 10 threads asking that we have a sticky so if they read the board they will get the answer. Other sites have sticky and one question was asked in the past is why don't we have them for important threads. Summer league happens to be one of those important threads in the summer. It will be changed when the league is over, except for the thread that will tell the victors.

I have been a little under the weather and will check about changing the other thread.

It is nice to hear from you but wonder, like Gary, why you go away and only come back to complain?
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Iaagree MM, The Summer League Schedule is important, but why not put it up on the board as "SUMMER LEAGUE SCHEDULE with the other links?
What is the Lord is an avatar .... don't matter, probably way too tech for me.
Get well fellow .. ain't good to be sick in the summer, or anytime.

Wisexuowl,

An avatar is something like a logo that a poster picks with which (s)he wants to be associated. The selected picture would then be displayed under your website name each time you post. On two boards I have downloaded pictures from my hard drive of a few Musketeers (the old fashioned variety) lifting their goblets during a period of imbibing some adult beverage.

A guy called a10fan over on the A-10 board changes his avatar from time to time, usually selecting logos from other programs just to be unpredictable and to do a little needling.

A few other guys like nuts4xu and XUGlow are famous for using beautiful young ladies as their avatars.

It's fun, colorful, gives us a chance to further express ourselves in a different way, and dresses up the appearance of the board
