Today's Enquirer has Chris M. stating how important X's schedule is. What about: 1) Rockhead College plays the top 26 teams in a given year, and loses all; do they get an invite? 2) Temple goes on the road in the early 2000's playing anyone, and gets a 6-9 seed; 3) ND under Brey plays absolutely nobody the first 10 games every year, and this year is #22 despite recently beating proposed #2 seed UL. Where does the truth lie?

A few good men/movie ....quote.."...you want the truth???you can't handle the truth!..." LOL LOL The point is there are 68 slots in the NCAA tournament. And every year ....the Big 5 Conferences get half or better of the 68 slots . No matter who they play in the non conference schedules. The BIG Conferences control football and basketball and thus they get the most slots in Bowl games and in the NCAA Dance. Each of the BIG 5 is currently picked to get at least 7 to 10 teams in the Dance, while most other conferences will get ONE and if they are lucky 2 slots. That means the BIG 5 will/may get 34 to 38 of 68 slots...50% or better!!! It is not who you play or your record....it is WHO you are and that you are in the BIG 5 Conferences. That is the TRUTH....can you handle it? LOL

To quote another movie: "show me the money"
I believe 'how well you travel' factors in also, maybe more so in football.

Embarrassing pandering coach. We use to mock the coach across town for this. C'mon man, you're better than that.

what do you expect him to say? "ummmmm, yeah, i don't think the committee should consider us at all. we don't deserve to be in. we probably need to win the BE tourney just to get in." c'mon, man.

he's going to defend his team and all his points are true. when you're on the bubble, sometimes you need to do that. nothing embarrassing or pandering about it. it was all facts.

To quote David Puddie from Seinfeld-"Gotta support the team" At least Mack didn't paint his face for the press conference

+1, plus it's a tricky slope to ski as until you see who gets past the first weekend it can backfire on you very quickly.

SOS is very important, but it only matters if you win a few big games don't lose many to bad teams, win a couple on the road, etc. You can rack up the points for your resume in conference, out of conference, or across your entire season, but you have to rack them up.

In our cases, SOS is important because we have no bad losses and a few good wins.

If you compare our resume to the rest of the field, then we are just on the right side of the bubble.

Cronin use to talk about SOS as if it set UC apart from us in years that we beat them and automatically entitled them to an auto bid despite a few bad losses. We've got no bad losses, we just don't have very many quality wins.
