wow ...out of 351 Division 1 teams... Winthrop was 30th in points scored. Looks like they have some scorers on the team.

well, Winthrop plays fast, shoots a lot of 3's, can score some points, and doesn't really play much defense. Looks like Kelsey didn't fall far from the Skip Prosser tree either.Xavier2005 wrote:wow ...out of 351 Division 1 teams... Winthrop was 30th in points scored. When Pat helped his dad coach my son's grade school team at St. Vivian, they taught these basics of the man-to-man defense:
1. Keep your back to the basket with one hand (pistol) pointed at your man and the other at the ball: ball, you, man.
2. Drop to the level of the ball.
3. When the ball is shot, don't watch it. Find your man and box out (your butt in his gut), then look at the basket.
Sounds simple, but it's amazing how difficult it is for players of all levels to accept and implement these principles. I'll be watching to see if Pat's team plays man this way.

Mark Twain was wrong. Golf is NOT a good walk spoiled. It is a shared personal experience in a majestic wonderland guided by God, whose name is called frequently during the round.
