Can win without good players???
The players left standing can show they are good to great players by winning all their remaining games. So far , with the 6 game losing streak, they are just showing they are not great players.....because they are not winning together. And they are showing that a coach cannot win without great players. PLAYERS of X...you are better than your 6 game losing streak.....step up and win.

These are all Macks players. Gates, Tre, JP, and Goodin were all highly ranked players. Time for the players to step up.

Look for our transfer seniors to step up big in BE Tourney & Ncaa. Last chance for Gaston & Bernard. The other G men Goodin & Gates gotta mature Now. Omara can do well if he gets matchups beneficial to his speed & skills. Jones has shown glimpses of a powerful big. If all this happens & JP & TRE can play at or above their average then a trip to sweet 16 is possible. Maybe we get a 2nd round "lucky" matchup vs a Lehigh or Georgia St. Most of all this group needs to mesh as a team more than as individuals

Based on the assessment of the best analysts for cbb, Vegas handicappers, X does have plenty of talent. However, they cover less than 20% of the time. The board has offered many different reasons as to why they aren't playing up to their capabilities, but whatever the cause, they have enough talent to compete with anyone in this league, except for Nova. Butler is playing considerably better, but even without ES, there is not a great discrepancy in talent.Xavier2005 wrote:The players left standing can show they are good to great players by winning all their remaining games. I expect X to play competitively against Butler on Thursday.

I'm not counting on our senior transfers to step up to be honest, and it's a little late to be talking about meshing as a team.xu koop scoop wrote:Look for our transfer seniors to step up big in BE Tourney & Ncaa. Re: Can win without good players???
The last 2 years Xavier has had good players, but they have not produced results at the end of the season. Xavier was soooo good last year that they were given a 2 seed. The coach and players delivered a 2 and out NCAA tournament performance...not even a Sweet 16 last year with a 2 seed. This year they are dubbed a top 10 team in the polls..pre season, and then played their way out of the top 25. And now are a bubble team. Again, the coach and players have not delivered at the end of both seasons.

if this scenario had happened with Sumner and Bluiett healthy for all these games, then i'd agree with you.Xavier2005 wrote:The last 2 years Xavier has had good players, but they have not produced results at the end of the season. any rational Xavier fan can at least look past the injuries we've sustained and not say, justifiably, that the coach and players "have not delivered".
c'mon, man.

Re: Can win without good players???
so let me ask you this - if the team THIS season gets into NCAA tourney and manages to get to Sweet 16, is this season BETTER than last year's? i would think NOT.Xavier2005 wrote:there were NO injuries in last year's NCAA Tournament...when a number 2 seed....did not win in St Louis. last year's team had a GREAT season. just because they fell short of the 2nd weekend of the tourney does not diminish their accomplishment as a whole. if they had been a 10-12 seed last year and managed to get to the sweet 16 and lose, it STILL would NOT have been better than what last year's team did. winning one more game and getting to the Sweet 16 doesn't define the entire season. nor will it this year, either.
