I point to 1) XU vs AZ State, 2) XU vs Temple and 3) UD vs XU.
My honest opinion is the UD loss is the worst of these three games. UD looked awful last night, could not shoot, rebound, or get inside. XU played well, shot well, played tough D but UD just looked so bad last night.
I would say XU vs Temple was the 2nd worst. Xaiver played bad that night, no fire no real effort.
XU vs AZ State was a bad loss but AZ St can play and they shot extremely well, and just out hustled us that game.
Which worst loss is well... the worst.

Re: Which worst loss is well... the worst.
I'd say our loss to Miami will be looked at as the worst loss. Miami was tough at the time, and playing well, but has faded since then. Not a good loss now.
Temple's record is only 8-8, but their RPI is at least top 60. That should not be considered a bad loss on the road. The way we played there (awful) is another story...

Re: Which worst loss is well... the worst.
Miami of Ohio has played the second toughest schedule, has an RPI of 67 and a losing record (7-10). Temple has played the fifth toughest schedule and has an RPI of 53 at 9-8.
The difference between the two might be that Temple had a couple more gimmies along the way. Miami's only really bad losses are to Bowling Green and Cincy (which might not be that bad by season's end). Temple lost to C. of Charleston early, but hasn't lost to an atrocious team since since. The difference is that if Temple gets some momentum, they could end up with 18-20 wins going into post season, while Miami would have to run the table. Of course, Miami only has three competitive games left (Kent St., Akron, Ohio), whereas Temple has 7. Miami's SOS and RPI will fall drastically, especially if they don't win out. Temple's should stay about the same, if not go up, even if they drop a few. I think Miami is the worst.
Az. St. is still a bit unpredictable. They were on against us and then came alive in the Pac 10. They should/will not become a sub-100 loss. But if they don't overcome whatever happened in the last two games (Stanford and Washington), they could still turn out to be a worse loss than Temple. They have a big game against Wash. St. today...

Am I missing something? I was at the game, we didn't lose to UD...joebba wrote:I point to 1) XU vs AZ State, 3) XU vs Temple and 3) UD vs XU.

Yeah, but Tennessee could not be considered a bad loss.
And I think the point of including "3) XU vs. UD" was whether our losses to the aforementioned are "better" or "worse" than their catastrophe in Cintas.

I put Tennessee up their to reflect my thought process as I read the topic. I didn't realize that someone was actually trying to categorize our losses against garbage that Gregory and company put on the floor the other night.tacitus wrote:Yeah, but Tennessee could not be considered a bad loss.

In that case, what Dayton did the other night at Cintas was by far worse than anything X has done all year. X was at least competitive at the beginnings of the ASU and Temple games. If anything, X has a problem coming through in the second half. That's pretty much how they have lost all their games, getting outplayed in the second half. Dayton was barely competitive in the first half. They mailed that in and probably should have just pulled a Bonnie and stayed home.
The play that, in my mind, reflects the lackluster performance by the flyers was when Jimmy Binnie and his arm sleeve attempt a three and Derrick Brown got up and deflected the shot. The ball falls right to Drew. Drew and Brown outrun Binnie and company to convert for the alleyoop.
Dayton is going to be stuck with that lineup for quite some time now. They dropped their second straight. An average A10 regular season might be their fate if they can't get it figured out.
