Transfer offered
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Re: Transfer offered
Here is his bio from the Lewis University website.
6-6 guard
Avg 13.3 PPG as a frosh and 20 PPG as a soph.
Looks like he would have to sit out a year and would eligible for the 17-18 season.
A possible hedge with Sumner maybe leaving after his soph season next year.

Re: Transfer offered
Appears to be a below avg defender and heavy footed which is a liability in our zone rotations. But as a situational shooter, he could be an asset. Stroke looks smooth. Have to trust Mack in the recruiting game at this point.mumuskie87 wrote:Here is his bio from the Lewis University website.

Re: Transfer offered
Played in my neck of the woods. When Strus was named The Regional/Reporter 2013-14 Player of the Year, it was noted there were those opposing coaches who believed he was the 2nd best south/southwest suburban area player (UK's Tyler Ulis was the hands down #1).
His HS Head Coach promoted Strus to some local D1 coaches in Illinois (e.g. DePaul and UIC). The Coach noted that not offering Strus an opportunity is the type of mistake that costs coaches jobs. Well, both the then head coaches at DePaul and UIC lost their jobs. Strus' older brother played at Lewis, so when local D1 schools did not offer a scholarship, he followed to Lewis, with an eye toward moving up.
Was only 5'11" as a HS Sophomore and a playmaking guard. As a late-bloomer, he possesses ball-handling skills. Like others, trust Coach Mack and his staff's evaluation and determining Strus' ability to contribute.
Will keep my ear to the ground.

I'd never turn down another JP Macura. Defense can be taught. Shooting is a skill that can improve, but not so easily learned. Trevon, JP, Brad Redford and possibly Edmund are shooters. Shooters can win a lot of ball games.

Re: Transfer offered
We could use him next year especially since JP got busted at RP McMurphy's last night. Fake ID, underage drinking, and disorderly. College students drink.

Heard that, as well. Would not think this would cause dismissal or suspension, but do teenagers ever think about consequences? At least when we were in college, 3.2 beer was legal at 18. Better start drinking the session beers if they are going to drink more than two!

Re: Transfer offered
Agreed on this, particularly with his record of getting two high performing transfers in TTaylor & Stainbrook. However, I don't think Sumner is the reason. I just think you never have enough good shooters, and already have an heir apparent to Sumner coming in; Goodin. I think CM is aggressively pursing a transfer in case:Jesseandrippers wrote:Appears to be a below avg defender and heavy footed which is a liability in our zone rotations. 1. Blueitt or Reynolds hire an agent, which would be a colossal mistake for either.
2. LAJ transfers.
3. O'Mara transfers. I hope this isn't the case, but he has waited his turn for two years. X often plays small, and if Reynold stays, he will have to fight for precious few minutes with him, London, and the two new post players. Also, I see X playing a lot with Reynolds at the 5, and Gates at the 4 next year. The small ball lineup X likes to play is not conducive to a pure post player. Though slow footed, he is a very effective low post scorer, and capable rebounder. He has been a great teammate as well. I want him to stay, but want what's best for him. Hopefully the end of the year meetings CM has with the players clarifies his standing to his satisfaction.

Irregardless of happens to JP, Strus would have to redshirt next year and would not be eligible until the 17-18 seasonskyhops wrote:We could use him next year especially since JP got busted at RP McMurphy's last night. Fake ID, underage drinking, and disorderly. College students drink.
