Anyone care to post on the happenings at the BB Banquet last evening?

opening statement read by drew lavender with apologies from last week..m.c. joe sunderman introed sr. fleming for invocation..musketeer highlight video played on big screens to a very good musical arrangement from 'pirates of the caribbean' (guess) as about 100 tables of 10 dined on fricasseed pork chop on a bed of rice, 2 carrots, stringed beans, roll and 2 starred-pats of butter, salad included, cheesecake ala blueberry sauce and all washed down with water, tea, and coffee. coach sean miller spoke at length about the season, the players, staff, and thanked eveyone, individually, for everything. sean is a terrific speaker and concluded with words of encouragement, continued references to his future goals at X. sean was proud of Xavier, his team, and seemed to glow in accolades of his players. one can tell he is firmly commited to Xavier as he had repeated many times. the awards......staak (unselfish) d. brown; connie brown (inspirational) c.j. & love; neal (most improved) b.j.; lew hirt (coach's) duncan; 1st annual ('skip' prosser) stanley....senior remarks, drew, josh, then stanley who had many heartfelt remarks including his love for X, thanked josh for being such a good friend and making him a better person, and......he turned to miller and said, "i'm gonna miss going to battle for ya, coach"

I say this with respect, not out of arrogance and, at the risk of "double secret probation" to be imposed by our "Committee" ,
I speak for the distinguished Lew Hirt Society membership:

We at the Lew Hirt Society are so proud to sponsor the Coaches Award to the most outstanding player. While some have criticised our group as a bunch of "grumpy old men"' the fact is that we are passionate in both fanhood and financialhood about Xavier University, our Men's Basketball program, and the players and coaches involved in it. On behalf of my other 27 select brothers- Congratulations to Josh Duncan for earning this year's award. He is a worthy recipient and successor to the line of fine players who have won it in past years.

We also could not be happier that the Society once again showed our passion, support and faith in the program by our full page ad in the game day program. We will be there again next year and will continue to do whatever small things we can to impact the University and the Basketball Program in a positive, meaningful way.

Our seniors have once again represented Xavier University in the best possible way- the Xavier Way. It is not a myth. Good Luck to them in whatever path life takes them and The Society's deepest thanks for their years of dedication, hard work and service to Xavier University. Finally, thanks to Sean Miller for all that he brings to Xavier, not the least of which, his loyalty and obvious belief in the mission of the school and by his actions showing that the phrase "Xavier is a Special Place" is not just empty words to be discarded when the next big offer is presented.

Next season cannot get here soon enough! We at the Lew Hirt Society will be there- loud, proud and strong!!!

Good job, MOR. A true reflection of the LHS Spirit. We ARE proud to be the top award, with many thanks to our Founder and Chairman who made it happen many years ago - always a visionary.
