SOM needs to play against Big Men and tonight he was good enough. Jones and SOM free throws are 7-8 tonight and last year they couldn't have made 3 of those 8. Great work on the FTs guys and keep it up. Q ends up with 6 assists and only 1 to so the 2 point offense is just a slight mar on his stat sheet. After all you want your point to distribute. The JP and Tre show did good on the road
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Quality road win in a hostile environment. A lot to be pleased about. Only real concerns so far is quickness on the perimeter and toughness / technique in the block. Not sure all of that is coachable but if we can figure these things out, we will be dangerous.

X goes 20-23 from the line and almost makes as FTs as Wisconsin attempts. 20 to 21
X controls the defensive glass as Coach pointed out in his post game comments
And only 3 TO's in the 2H

Xavier put up 1.353 PPP in the second half. Shot 57% and hit four of five threes.

Game commentators were complete trash tonight.

A few takeaways..
--JP is so underrated it's not even funny. Heart and soul of our team and will be seriously missed next year.
--Tre needs to play for 40 minutes and not just 20 for us to be a serious contender (and to play in the NBA). But when he gets rolling....sheesh...he's really reallyyyy good. Really..haha.
--Need more scoring out of our guards, but Scruggs played quality minutes when Q was in foul trouble.
--Naji will be fine. Good minutes for him to experience real college basketball.
--I'd like to see us run more sets for Gates. So good to see him healthy.

All in all...a good quality win on the road against a really good big.

SOM is a very good player. He plays best against other true centers and struggles against smaller quicker guys. He is definitely important to the success of the team against strong competition. Jones is playing very well. I was surprised he didn't do better against Happ defensively but Happ is incredibly talented.

Scruggs and Q simply need to take care of the ball and create offense for others. We don't need huge scoring from either of them.

The Wisconsin run at the end of the half without Happ was also mostly without Macura. It had little to do with Happ's absence and a lot to do with X's only consistent scorer in the first half.

Bluiett has a knack for finding his offense in the 2nd half. He and Macura are playing great together. Macura keeps the team in it and Bluiett brings home the win.

Some people are going to find things to criticize and complain about, things they want to see improvement in or think need to be corrected, areas of potential weaknesses and potential greatness........

.....but Im just going to sit here, enjoy my morning coffee, and savor the great taste of revenge. Ahhhhh

In the end, Senior leadership, poise, strong defensive boards and our size and physical play were the difference. Scruggs showed great poise and played quality minutes. Marshall as has been said earlier will play into a key role by conference play. I loved how Mack went to the young guys in key points of the game.

I love the new Kaiser Gates. A strong rebounder and good defender that will present match up problems.

It is always good when the fans on the road are focsued on JP. JP does his job with a great stat line and gets into the other team/fans heads.

Bucky Badger welcome to BE basketball. A 10 point win on the road and putting up 80 points on the Badgers is an impressive early resume builder. Now on to Hampton and then a good two week stretch against solid competition.
