Scruggs is more skilled than either, and a team player. The other two, not so much. We need to find a capable wing in the grad transfer ranks. Marshall is a great defender, and capable offensive player, when he realizes he is a horrible shooter. Same with Q. They both can be effective on the offensive end, but their range and skillset is limited, which obvious to everyone but themselves.lionelchalmers0 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 8:59 pmPaul Scruggs NEEDS to be the leader of this team next year (along with Jones perhaps.
Naji and Q def have their own skill set but by god are their basketball IQs low and do they shoot their way out of games.

Q def takes frustrating shots but made some very good passes as well. The elephant in the room is something that doesn't need to be said, but selfish, low I.Q. play cost X the game. Steele has been brilliant, but the major hurdle he has to jump over is to hold players accountable, which he clearly did not. Stat sheets and the eye test speak volumes. A complete disgrace, particularly to the three grad transfers, whose play was guided by what was in the best interest of the team all season. I'd rather lose with those guys, and someone who thinks plays hero ball all the time. A complete disgrace.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

agree with Anti.... DISGRACE. you F'd up Steele. If you can't find a way, up 7 or 5 or 4 in last 2 min to post up hankins then you all SUCK.. One basket during that stretch wins game., ONR BASKET> and we get fall away three pointers from naji and Q.......!!!!!!>???????????????
F me royal. My 7th graders can execute a post feed better. V had no D for Zach down low- and you can't find a way to feed him?
sad, insane, embarrassing, Sorry Zach, you deserved better.. NIT here we come, shoulda, woulda, coulda. But in the end, the better coach wins.

It’s true. And you’re right. And I still hate it.muskieman wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 9:10 pmYou should know the aggressive guards get the calls just like 00 did in his day. Q could be that guard but he is unsure of his handel. I agree with XavierBob said: "Not one of our key players had long periods of good play" and the past few games showed it with Paul shooting poorly the other night and tonight lights it up. I said with a few minutes to play he might need to score 30-35 and had they been able to get it to him he might have just carried X.lionelchalmers0 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 9:03 pmI can’t f’ing stand when refs make those calls. At least twice late in the second half booth drove on Naji, Naji played great d and they called the foul when booth initiated the contact shoulder to chest. There was zero contact by najis arms on either play but booth was being aggressive so they just gave it to him.

Agreed. Selfish, low I.Q., and the anthesis of guys like West, Holloway, and the three grad transfers would have been more appropriate.lionelchalmers0 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 9:08 pmI hear you and def agree in a sense. X has a great class coming in, and apparently, Steele isn't finished. It would be hard to find a coach who did a better job in four months of recruiting when Vanilla Ice physically left last spring, though he was mentally gone a year earlier. Love the future of this team, and appreciate the efforts of the team, especially the grad transfers. They deserved better. They were a credit to the university in every way.Jesseandrippers wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 9:04 pmSilver Lining: Three weeks ago none of us would have predicted taking Nova to OT in BE Semis. Doesnt make this feel any better but it was nice seeing the team not pack it in with a first year coach after that stretch.
Need some pieces next year to compliment some of the good we have on the roster now.

Speaking of the grad transfers, it’s reallllly a shame that Hankins isn’t back for another year. I think it took him a while to get up to speed on the D1 game but has a great post up game and seemed like a great leader/locker room guy. He’ll be missed.Anti-Homer wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 9:17 pmX has a great class coming in, and apparently, Steele isn't finished. Re: BET - Nova Game Thread 3-15-19
They all will be. All had to take lesser roles than they had with their previous teams, yet they never complained, and gave great effort whenever they were called on. I though Welage was underused, but it's a difficult roster to manage, because everyone except Scruggs and Hankins had serious holes in their game. They also were CEREBRAL players, who put the TEAM 1st. I sense a theme here.lionelchalmers0 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 9:19 pmSpeaking of the grad transfers, it’s reallllly a shame that Hankins isn’t back for another year. Re: BET - Nova Game Thread 3-15-19
You do realize that there was different situations in the Naji and Q shots. Q was given the ball with less than 4 seconds and after getting the ball no one cut to the basket and he was forced to shoot, for the second time in the game, a long three. You talk about one basket but one foul shot by hankins also could have won it in regulations and there are always little things in games like this that win or lose it. The team played good to great D for the last 8 games of the year and probably the best D in many years so TS should be given credit for that.X-lucidity wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 9:12 pmagree with Anti.... I do hope X receives and accepts a NIT bid.
I think the grad transfers deserve a chance to play in a post season tournament.
Zach will definitely be missed next year.
He had a great 2H of the season.
