Does anyone else laugh at the state of sweet67's life? A Uc troll who has so little going on in his life he's here every weekend and was even here Christmas Eve. I get wishing you could be part of the bandwagon but it's getting sad.

assume he is Mick or his clone so I feel a little sad for him. Had the refs made the right call on so simple a thing as an inbound there would not have been a T called. Note his first post on the thread jumping to the conclusion that Tre might have been held back because of drugs.

Sounded as if the Cintas Center crowd's 2nd Half energy worked in tandem with the improved play over the last 15 minutes of the game.

A credit to the fans. Easy to be flat, like the Team, entering during a Holiday game. Turned it around.

I don’t know about Roberts but I followed Strus all the way. Naji was chasinging him til he got a couple pics but Kaiser was waiting on the other side. I’m not sure Cain was the choice but Strus was well covered.

I didn’t read any of the posts, so my apologies if any of this is redundant. First of all, was a very impressive crowd, as all seats were filled 15 minutes before game time. The crowd was louder than the Baylor game, and probably second only to the Shootout. Also, Harden looked good shooting 3’s during warmups. Hopefully, he can be a consistent shooter next year.

As far as the game goes, X played very low IQ bball in the 1st half. They rushed everything, threw a lot of careless passes, and kept taking “horse shots.” Also, for some reason, Goodin and Scruggs still continue to throw up treys, which have a lesser chance of going in than Jones shooting sky hooks from the corner 3 area. Their 5 treys were as good as turnovers and led to transition baskets, including 3’s. Depaul isn’t known as a high volume 3 point shooting team, but probably exceeded their avg. number of makes for a game in the 1st half. X took about 7-8 treys by the 2nd TV timeout, and made one, largely b/c our two pgs took the majority of them.

Not sure why Tre sat out the first few minutes, but JP, as usual, picked up the slack. Trey is the best offensive player on the team, but he is pretty one dimensional offensively, albeit as a deadly jump shooter. He forces up way too many shots, particularly in traffic, and can’t create his own shot consistently. He still is a phenomenal player and warrior, but I think JP is the overall MVP. He is a stat sheet filler like James Posey was, and made an unbelievable steal late in the game, when he blindly jumped in the air and stole the ball. Late game heroics have become routine for him. He is good at so many things, including improving his dribbling and shot creating ability.

Marshall came down to earth for a game, but was very disruptive as the point man in the 1-3-1. It threw Depaul out of rhythm, and probably cut down two passes in their offensive sets, making their looks more difficult and limited. Jones was in a funk the whole game, and had awful body language on the bench. He was also 0 for 4 from the line. It’s nice to have options with 3 talented post players with different skill sets, and CM expertly managed their p.t.

X overcame a 16 point deficit with 17 minutes left in the game, because they took care of the ball, took better shots, played better D, and just has better personnel. I’m glad Scruggs got his regular 12-14 minutes, but CM obviously realized Goodin had to be in if the comeback was going to result in a win, as Goodin played the last 9-10 minutes of the game, and was the catalyst for the win. He, Kantner, and JP get the game balls. Depaul is not very good, but definitely better than last year. X needs to shore up their D with Nova coming in 2 weeks. I know Butler comes on Tuesday, but that will be a double digit win. With Nova, A & M, and possibly ASU going down, X may be in the top 3. That will play very well with recruits.

Macura was phenomenal. He took a stupid 3 and missed his dunk but absolutely amazing outside of those 2 plays. He should have had 2 more fast break layups if his teammates were able to get him the ball. He is back to looking like an NBA talent.

Tre has to play more efficiently today. X doesn't need him to score 20 but the team does need him to take smart shots and take care of the ball. He has not shot well for the last 4 or so games, partly because he is forcing the action. He is still rebounding well and knocking down FTs so the team simply needs him to be more efficient.

Low IQ play is a great way to summarize the DePaul game. X will need to play much more focused and get the right people shots and in the right places. Forced action by Tre or Q bombing from deep is not a recipe for a win against Butler. Better intensity on the defensive end is needed for the whole game not just the final 16 minutes.
