I have no desire for Mack to stay. He underachieved most years at X. Great talent but minimal results. Last year's run was 1 of 2 exceptions but the rest were disappointing. He did improve as a coach over the years but is still mediocre at best. Next year will be a struggle most likely because we don't have a complete team. That may turn into a longer rebuild depending on the coach but long-term X is better off with Mack hitting the road.

Coaching against FSU was a disaster. So many mistakes that were obvious to anyone with any ability to analyze the game. Yes it was unfortunate that Marshall was injured and Macura was called for 3 fouls he never committed but going inside had to be explored. Playing Macura for short stretches before the lead went to 0 in both H1 and H2 should have occurred.

I'm excited to move on regardless of who the new coach is. I lean toward grabbing an analyst from another industry. The Cleveland Browns are a great example of this. I'm guessing most of you are confused at this point given their 1 win in the last 2 years but they are set to dominate for years to come because they made wise trades to build draft capital and have a boatload of cash for free agency. Sashi was wrongfully fired and set this team up to be a monster. X should look outside of coaching for their head coach and let him hire experienced assistants to recruit and implement game strategy while the head coach absorbs the data and makes adjustments.

Of course the above is just a dream and likely we will end up with a coach from somewhere in basketball. Should that happen, please let him understand defensive strategy. I can't take another year of clueless defense.
do you practice making dumb statements are does it just come natrally to you? I pray Mack comes back just to make your life miserable
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

The only players from this year’s team that have a shot at the NBA are coming back.

What players would those be? Marshall and Scruggs although think they have a shot. They need to develop their game big time to reach the level of NBA players. This year I think the only player that has a shot at an NBA contract is JP Macura just because of his shooting ability and passing but Bluiett really failed to score when it mattered most in the dance!
The only other one that I would consider having a shot at the NBA is Goodin...IF he works hard and develops a dependable outside shot....big IF. He has the bulk and strength to play, even if he is not considered lomg. His shot is keeping him back, but the word is that he was injured last off-season and couldn’t work on it during the summer. I don’t see anyone else on this year’s team having a real shot. I think that there are some people here that have overvalued the talent of this past years roster. Some very good college players, but not NBA quality IMO.

Ouch!

I disagree. Yes, I and others have said we have underachieved in March, which I don't think is inaccurate, but the many coaches, including some of the elites, do as well. It's an annual ritual for the coach across town. This year's version includes the likes of Izzo, Williams, Miller, and Bennett. Pretty good company. SM has made it to 4 E-8s but considering that his teams are routinely preseason top 10 teams, many would call that underachieving. This year's AZ team was no. 2 preseason I believe, though most prognosticators thought they'd have that paid player. Regardless, I still think he is a very good coach. A tad better than CM.

However, I think CM is the total package. He had a watershed moment when he was a "deer in the headlights" during the infamous brawl, but it's difficult to prepare for something like that. Since then, he has been very polished and smart whenever he deals with the media and with controversies, something which his two predecessors lacked.

I think he is gone, and I'll miss him. However, X has been very lucky with grooming their next coach in waiting, and Steele seems to be ready. He has attended that camp where the elite assistant college coaches go (not sure how many times), and has been coach alongside side CM long enough to hopefully benefit from his offensive acumen, and has a reputation as a great recruiter. I still hold the faintest of hopes that he is still the Associate HC next year.

However, let's not kid ourselves. He didn't turn down Midd Tenn for nothing.

Yellow, Miller might not trade-in his Lexus, the Lexus may be repossessed.
That's my point... He'll be under a big dark cloud and some on this board want to bring him back??? I say avoid him like the plague... Dan

I would like Miller but don't see X taking him back under that solid black cloud. I really believe Steele is going with Mack for many reasons. I hope Kelsey isn't the guy but that seems to be more of a possibility. With Hurley off the market, i really have no clue who it would be. Hopefully Mack stays but just don't see it.
if Sean Miller leaves Arizona, it will be a trip to prison. FBI has recordings of Him doing bribes wiTH recruits.

Hearing strong rumors Mack is taking all his Assistants with him. If Steele gets the offer at XU, I think he passes on being assistant at Louisville.
That also may save some recruits from "vacating"

If Chris Mack leaves, and Travis Steele does not take over, I wonder if the coach at Buffalo could be recruited. I was very impressed with how that team played in the NCAA against Arizona and Kentucky, and how he coached them in those games.
either one of the Hurley brothers would be a positive move.

Are some delusional? Why do you think he would want to come back? First he hasn’t left Zona. Second, if he did and wanted to come back here, why?

Why is it delusional to want a good coach? Miller is the best in-game coach X has had in my view. Do I think he is coming? Not likely, his current situation makes him toxic but I'll gladly take him if he wants to leave Arizona.
