Marshall - forced shot #6 but gets bailed out with a foul on John.

X goes 2-4 from the line.
Can't win with that shooting.
And Howard hits another tough tough shot.
Scruggs comes down and plays hero ball.

Marshall - playing hero ball.
This team has zero clue of how to play as a team.
Just a collection of 5 guys running around out there.
X now 3-6 from the line.
Another game where X snatches defeat from the jaws of victory.

Putting Marquette on the line is a losing proposition.
X was up 58-47.
Marquette has outscored 36-20 down the stretch.

To be fair I don’t think it’s always hero ball. I think it’s a team with zero shooters (other than welage who has absolutely no ability to do anything other than catch and shoot while standing still). Half their possessions do come down to a guy just driving and trying to score. We should go inside more for sure but other than that we don’t have the talent to do much else since no one can shoot.mumuskie87 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 26, 2019 3:59 pmMarshall - playing hero ball.

Frustrating game by the usual suspects, but love the fight and improvement. It's hard to say a team played decent D when the other team scores 85, but I thought X did. M-Quette has 3 guys with Bluiett's range. I'd hate to see them in March.

Not enough team play and big droughts on offense that goes back to last year. Hopefully Steele has the answer

They play team ball til late in the game and if it’s close, they forget the team ball and go back to street ball. Keep going to Jones and Hankins until they are stopped. Not sure who the T was on, Naji or Steele but what a killer. Stupid. Steele almost got one with X up six. He needs to cool down at times. But better I guess than a mild mannered coach. But timing.

I was a little harsh on Goodin. With the exception of the t.o. and bad shot consecutively, he played well, especially defensively. He has definitely lost his confidence. This team was within a couple of possessions within the 5-minute mark against the two best teams in this league. Just keep getting better and hope for a good draw in the BE tourney.Anti-Homer wrote: ↑Sat Jan 26, 2019 3:48 pmGoodin's regression reaching another level. I'd rather put Welage in and have Scruggs run the point.

Tough to drive and dish when the person you dish the ball to doesn't have a good percentage from the three. How many did Welage make today? I though it was a good game today but toward the end I saw X and Marquette last year when X could make the three and the FTs but today they were wearing Marquette uniforms.lionelchalmers0 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 26, 2019 4:06 pmTo be fair I don’t think it’s always hero ball. I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.
