Mack had JP bring the ball up the floor to give the guards a blow but when he fouled out that could not happen. Jumping the ball carrier and slipping also lead to TOs. How do you coach not to slip????

agreed. this is not on Mack. Tre had the ball the 3rd to last possession - drove it down to the left block and got it stolen. Tre then got the ball the next possession, drove to the right elbow, jump stopped and tried to step through, but slipped and just had to throw the ball up in the air. not sure how those are on Mack. your best player, in those situations, has to at least be able to get a shot off.

i was totally fine with Kanter's wide open 3 as well. Tre certainly wasn't going to get a better look than that with the defense on him like it was. Just hoping for more than an airball so as to have a chance at a rebound.

In a way I wish I never started this thread.
As disappointed as we all are the players, the team & the coaches feel the sharp sting of this defeat more than anybody.
Let’s appreciate their hard work & play in a still otherwise great season. They were so much fun to watch. Their heroics inspired us all. Made you proud to be Xavier University graduates. The team represented the values of Xavier.
In the post game interview Chris Mack calmly addressed the issues that led to our defeat. JP & Scruggs answered questions with dignity at a very difficult time. That takes courage & shows class.
For the rest of the tournament I’m pulling for Fla. State because they beat us. They are a very good team: long, tall, tough, excellent shooters and fought us hard on every play. There is no disgrace in getting beat by such a worthy opponent.
The Muskies will come out firing next year.

On Kanter's three my only hope was that it could be switched out with the made three after time expired. I do believe that the ball must have either slipped in his hand or he did not catch it cleanly which made him just rush the shot.

Kanter made that same shot against ETSU. Wide open look.
But still would have preferred that Tre took the shot.
