Re: Providence Thread
need that win in the last 6+ minutes. Needs to keep scoring and defending.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Just can't believe how poor the three-point shooting Our 2 best three-point shooters are 0-8

Re: Providence Thread
Providence deserved the win and X needs to figure out why their best three point shooters get shut out.

Re: Providence Thread
Year four redux with Steele. First of all, up two with 50 seconds, you know one of their two guards will get it, yet he has Odom, the best defender on the bench. Then, he puts the ball in Scrugg's hands, who has continued to carry on the hero ball tradition from Marshall, and misses a one on three bucket. Providence hits a three with two seconds, so X needs a three. Of course Nunge and Free are subbed out for Johnson and Freemantle right? Nope. Introducing, the New York Gauchos Coach Travis, AAU Steele.
As I said prophetically after seeing year one, talent is going to have to trump coaching. Good for him that he is bringing in a great class next year. He's also lucky he has friend's in high places, and the barometer for success for Christopher was winning 10 games at BG. Back to my dilemma: Hope X squeaks in the tourney, and buy Steele two to three additional years of AAU ball, or lose out, possibly prompting a change? I'll take the fifth. Don't want to give a undisciplined team, bad juju.

Re: Providence Thread
Home loss to a team I think we are better than. 22% on 3 balls. Scattered offense with zero rhythm. Defensive breakdowns. Not a good loss for X.

Re: Providence Thread
The last two times out of timeout we have a Freemantle fadeaway two and then another bad end of shot clock shot by Scruggs. That folks is on Steele once again.

Re: Providence Thread
If you told me that X would hold Watson to zero points and Nate and Adam would shoot 8 threes shots I would ask by how many points did X win. You would think 8 shots you get at least 3 but more likely 4. The stats are almost even except for 3 point made

Re: Providence Thread
I don’t think they have any good three point shooters. Maybe a game here or there one might make 3 or 4 but no one on this team can make threes with any consistency. I think we over rate this team. Maybe they have potential but potential does score points, defend or win games. And with a sub average coach they don’t really give me a lot of hope. Let’s be real. Doesn’t help either that they dig a hole in most first halves that they can’t overcome against good teams.

Re: Providence Thread
Their best three point shooter and third leading scorer was out, and their best scorers were guards, who ended up scoring 60% of their points, so you figured Odom would play a lot. Nah. It was scripted in Travis' pre-game plan. What was? Free and Scruggs will play 30 minutes no matter what.Jesseandrippers wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 8:47 pmHome loss to a team I think we are better than. 22% on 3 balls. Good news! Travis just said that "If we play like this every night, we're going to win a lot of games." X will probably still make the tourney, but again, unless the players make individual plays, they ain't going far.

Re: Providence Thread
X has good shooters, but poor shot selection, and there are no negative consequences for doing so. I'm waiting to see Miles breakout his Kareem sky hook. If you have someone install a disciplined offense, and guys knew that consecutive bad shots would put them on the bench, you would see the percentages go up significantly.oldhoopster wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 8:54 pmI don’t think they have any good three point shooters. I can't wait to see who wins the Gold Jersey this week!
