Re: Creighton Game thread
Finally, Travis changes to the right uniform (Nunge) and drains two free throws 2 times
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Amazing what happens when the ball goes through the hoop. X needs to continue that for the last 4 minutes

Re: Creighton Game thread
I see Travis outlasted that better CU coach by scoring 51 points in the second half making his free throws and playing good D. Great game Travis and now if your players will just do as you do they will be more successful. Next game Travis will travel to DePaul to take on the entire Depaul team

Re: Creighton Game thread
Xavier wins, besides the score, the turnovers by turning CU over 21 times to only 9 for X. They also evened up the rebounds only losing by one in total but more than doubling the O rebounds. Still, some work X needs, err I mean Travis needs, to take out Depaul. Travis just has to shoot better than 43% to win in the Big East

Re: Creighton Game thread
Travis’ lack of any set plays on offense will kill his team down the stretch. Running a weave then the other four watch a guy drive to the hoop is not an offense

Villanova ran the same “set” plays on Wednesday and he was crowned super coach! I actually thought Travis took a page from Wright’s strategy with Jones and Scruggs going one on one in the paint in the 2nd half and it worked. It also allowed Nunge and Freemantle to work for offensive rebounds if their center tried to help.
Let’s give credit when credit is due.

Oh, they can't do that! It would mean they would have to show they were happy.Lead Guitar wrote: ↑Sat Jan 15, 2022 8:25 pmVillanova ran the same “set” plays on Wednesday and he was crowned super coach! Re: Creighton Game thread
Omaha News Quote from McDermott…..I guess he saw what we saw! Nice set plays, Travis. It was a “set” play. Everything doesn’t have to be a five pass, triple back screen Auburn Shuffle to be called a set play.
I thought we defended them great in the first half," CU coach Greg McDermott said. "But they went to some isolation stuff, started picking on some of our young guys. And we probably didn't handle that very well."
It was senior guard Paul Scruggs initially, just backing down defenders and scoring in the lane. Then the versatile 6-foot-7 Colby Jones took over. Bigs Zach Freemantle and Jack Nunge got free around the rim, too.

Re: Creighton Game thread
Hardly any programs run “set plays” any longer on a regular or majority basis. Virtually all of them have set “principles” that they use to determine and direct movement of the players. They are allowed to freelance, but only along a set group of principles that tell a player HOW to move, but not necessarily where. They give the players options, and then ask the players to react to what the defense gives them along those lines.gym from delhi wrote: ↑Sat Jan 15, 2022 8:02 pmTravis’ lack of any set plays on offense will kill his team down the stretch. Where they do run “set” plays, and they do a pretty good job at it, is when they run inbound plays.
