Reality is right now no coaches/schools are even remotely indicated as compliant. Without that, just not sure how this is going to really "bring down college basketball"
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Thank you, Muskieman, for the above message from Brian Snow. I have nothing to do with "tweets" because of the kind of person who uses them all the time. Understanding of course that there may be something true or worthwhile or interesting "tweeted" by someone. So thanks for passing it on. If I have any complaints about you, Muskieman, it is that you do not post here enough. I see you as the voice of sanity, and reason, and worthwhile maturity. In the good memory of Mr. Neutral, I would welcome more from you, if ya feel like doin' it.
I like our players. And our coaches, and well, pretty much everybody on this board, including, believe it or not, the well known "in your face" Snarky Ones. I do not like it when anyone, including myself, gets nasty. I try not to do that.

Sumner leaving early was a little fishy considering he was hurt and going to be a second round pick at best.

And it would seem to be a good thing that he left early.

If anyone in X’s administration or coaching staff was complicit in any way, then they should be punished, X should receive severe sanctions, and their reputation sullied. Though more evidence may come out, I don’t think that’s the case, nor think X would have crafted the response and allowed CM to tweet it out if they weren’t fully confident that this was simply the actions of a rogue agent. One can only monitor a student-athlete so much. Let’s look at our friends across town as an example:

When Darnell Burton was caught smoking marijuana right before a conference tourney, which carried a suspension as punishment in their manual, Bob Huggins successfully was able to circumvent it by swaying UC’s ever accommodating admin. that the rules were written for their old conference, not the new one.

When Danny Fortson and Sir Arthur Long punched a police horse in Clifton, to my knowledge, their punishment was being denied tapioca pudding during dinner the next evening.

When Donald Long confused his roommate with an ashtray and committed several other criminal acts, UC again looked the other way. The responsibility of the school lies in creating an environment of strict compliance, and not encouraging the continued misdemeanor/criminal behavior of UC athletes during his tenure, by offering no deterrence. Although, X certainly failed by not punishing JP for his actions in the bar last year, that was an aberration in their program, as evidenced by countless actions like Skip P suspending players before an NCAA game, and the Well’s case. Dez Wells did NOT commit a crime according to the UC alum DA Joe Deters, yet X kicked him out because he disobeyed the higher code of conduct X has relative to most schools. I applauded it then, and now. UC’s policy was a trend, hence earning them the nickname UNLV East.

As stated earlier, if it is proven that one of the assistants, administrators, or CM himself had any knowledge of what was going on, then they should be severely punished, and/or terminated. Time will tell.

The reality is regardless of coaches complicity(which they will all deny as the system was setup to bypass them to begin with) the schools whose players accepted any compensation, loans, etc. should all be punished as they have been in the past. The issue is accepting the money/benefits. That said, given the amount of money coaches are paid they should all voluntarily take lie detectors to back up their denials. This isn't a murder trial, and the integrity of the system is at stake. Otherwise you really shouldn't be in college sports. Just go to the professional ranks. No one is stopping anyone from playing overseas, et. al. You either have to enforce it strictly, or drop the facade that it's amateur and pay players. Once that happens directly, the product will decline as the population of teams/schools will drop and splinter.

The more intriguing thing is if this leak is only a small part of the probe, and there is a lot more history to follow. Depending how far back it goes, it could get real interesting. A little birdie tells me this is a little snip it.

Not meaning this to be negative, Semaj and Edmond seem to have had a different quality, as if they were rented.

If a player or family member gets money from an agent do any of you think that the player goes running to the coach? Unless they brag about it to another player or someone like a girlfriend or friend how will a coach know? I am sure agents that do this probably say lets keep this between you and me. I am sure, unless you are LaValle Ball, fathers are not quick to reveal that they received money. The only way the FBI finds out is the agent's spreadsheet. IF X had any part in this and the statements of Chris are not true then I will be disappointed but I don't believe that Chris or his staff are party to this revelation. I am disappointed in ED but I would like to know the full details before I throw anyone under the bus.

I am sure Chris has talked to his team about hanging out with undesirables but just like a father or mother tells their children sometimes their children think they know better. I hope and pray for the Xavier program that this will pass but proving a negative is hard if not impossible. I would like to see a complete exoneration but I wonder if that will ever happen.

Caught a portion of Coach Rick Carter's interview tonight on a Chicago Sports Radio station. Since I did not hear the entire interview, need to note that fact.

Coach Carter pointed out the difficulty in seeking to monitor parents. He indicated that some of the ballplayers are of the "one and done" type category. Thus, even if a Coach starts to pick up a vibe about the parents, the player may be gone prior to ascertaining, through due diligence, the actual problem. Coach Carter also stipulated the interaction, pre and post-game, with parents is often more limited than we might suspect due to coaching and media responsibilities.

He had interesting things to say from an experienced perspective. Would like to hear him again, before relaying more of his thoughts. Since I was driving, and not taking notes, will stop there for fear of doing a disservice to Coach Carter's reasoned, informative remarks. Maybe he will be doing some other interviews on Cincinnati radio and elsewhere. If so, would love to hear the takeaways from he says in those interviews.
