Re: Should Xavier be concerned about this?
Entered X in '67...ventured there from Upstate NY, not knowing anyone on campus. Spent four years there, and returned for grad school for another year...was married then, and lived off campus. Some of my best memories in those years as a late teen and early 20's, was at X! Xavier basketball stunk back then...and we knew it, but we STILL supported them...have said this before on this site...we ALWAYS had a losing record. Not in a conference...and DID play Miami and UC. We are currently in the BEST conference to be in and the MOST appropriate for Xavier! I don't believe any of us want to see a torrent of "one and dones" at X, but to compete, it may become a reality. My philosophy is "celebrate with the player." If he is that talented, support him! Frankly, I am more of a proponent of guys like James Farr who stayed four years, worked on his game and became an integral part of X basketball. No one could have predicted that. He now makes decent money overseas. I am saddened to hear of long time X ticket holders who left, for their own reasons. I wish I still lived there to be able to go to all of their games...my wife and I, and sometimes me alone, have taken in many X games "on the road." Been to Calif, Fla several times, and would welcome chance to follow them more regularly. Heck, they're on TV tonight...I'll be ensconced in my "Man Cave" rooting on the Muskies! Never waiver in your support!!

To me the most egregious change, which killed my NBA interest and has my college bball interest on life support, is the liberalization of traveling. Guys now take three or four steps, often riding the ball on their hip like a halfback, and it's considered a "great move." Adding to the problem is how does one guard a player who can just walk away from him? Demonstrative officials who consider themselves part of the show are also a negative (see that Henderson clown from the other day and earlier X games). I still go as my end zone memories from Schmidt won't permit me to quit it all together, but a lot of the enjoyment is gone.
I love how traveling is now called a "euro step"

Re: Should Xavier be concerned about this?
I have had season tickets since I graduated in 1972 and went to every game as a student. Xavier has never been as good as they are the last 10-20 years, in my opinion, so why go back to being mediocre and the is being kind to the 69-75 teams . For those that want X to play UD and Miami my question is why? Do you also want X to play NKU and Wright State each year after all they are local. X's sos is the best in the BE this year and even though I have relatives that go to and some that went to UD I'd rather not see them on our schedule. Why, because of the crap their fans have given our fans including my wife over the years. Sure their are good UD fans but when their major cheer is F--- XU I'd rather not hear them. Too many of you UD/Miami fan are living in the pst when Miami was a basketball powerhouse but they are not now and don't look like they will be any time in the future. We have played them but a trip up there is not worth the time.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.
