I don't recall seeing anyone address this point yet, but if there are 2 divisions, the east will be comprised of St.John, Georgetown, Providence, Villanova and Seton Hall. If VCU were included, that would round out the east,

Let's say the west scenario includeds Marquette, DePaul, Xavier, St.L, Butler and either Dayton or Creighton. That works fine for east and west divisions. However, if VCU is not included, then Dayton and Creighton are chosen for a 12 team league. That would put Dayton in the east, if going strictly by geographic position, since Dayton is longitudinally east of Xavier by a few miles.

Wednesday announcement of Xavier's acceptance into the new league would be perfect timing.

Fingers crossed...

I'm pretty sure this was already posted, but if it wasn't, then http://www.vuhoops.com/2012/12/15/37708 ... initely-in reported on the 15th(Saturday)that X and Butler are definitely in per cityofbasketballlove.com. It is going to be a 10 team league, and the rumor is that the BE7 are choosing between UD and SLU for the final spot.

Interesting comment from one of the VU posts to that article -
"do you all realize that we are now the conference that UPSETS the #1 team
And not the conference WITH the #1 team. We are mid-major…hear us roar…meow."

Maybe a little overly negative but I can see the point.
Bottom line - if this new conference does come about, it will still need to show winning results against strong OOC opponents and successful tournament runs to be considered an elite b/ball conference.

The egos of the C7 alums (especially at Nova) don't realize that Xavier and Butler for the past five years have been better than any of the C7, including Georgetown. When it comes to financial feasibility, XU is the cream of the crop. Although we will benefit greatly from joining the C7, they will benefit more by having us.

Just how many games have you taken in at udump?

#3 I think their recent run is as comparable as Creightons

Good point Pickens. I won't go to The Dump for fear of my safety - and that is NOT a joke.

Would agree about being better as it relates to the NCAA tournanment
The NCAA tournament records over the past 10 years (02-03 thru 11-12)
1) Butler - 2 FF's and 2 S16's
2) Xavier - 2 E8's and 3 S16's
3) 'Nova - 1 FF, 1 E8 and 2 S16's.
4) Marquette - 1FF and 2 S16's
5) Gtown - 1 FF and 1 S16
6) SH - 2 appearances
7) Depaul, St Johns's and Providence - all w/ 1 appearance each.

The only thing Nova, Marquette and Gtown have over X in that time frame is a FF appearance. Based on making the S16 or better, Butler and X have been equal to or better than any of the BE7 schools in the last 10 years.

It's been a great arena for Dayton but it is also 43 years old...and like many 43 yr olds, aging begins to take it's toll.
