i think they actually may need another win or two to secure their spot in the nit.

They have four games left and could easily lose three of the four and finish with a 6-10 league record. They have to play Xavier at home Sunday, then are at Fordam where they could easily lose and then at St. Bonaventure and close at home against St. Joe. Two losses means they finish 7-9 and finis trourney hopes, either NCAA, NIT or the new tourney for loserss. No team is going to the NIT with a sub-.500 record in conference. They have to win three of the four to hit .500. Talk about bubbles and teetering on the edge.
I really think their NCAA hopes are slimmer than ever. Their record in the last 10 games would be 4-6 if they lose two of the next three. Even allowing for the injuries and illness, they still lost to LaSalle, which means they must win all of their last four to get a sniff of the NCAA if they don't win the A10 tournament.
Sunday undoubtedly will be the biggest game for Dayton in the last 10 years or maybe longer.
It will be equally huge for Xavier because with a four-game lead and three to play, I think Xavier can clinch the A10 regular season championship.
As it stands now, a loss by St. Joe, , Richmond or Temple eliminates them from a shot at the regular season crown.
St. Bonaventure and George Washington are out of the A10 tournament at the moment. Fordham is in the conference tournament, but just barely. They've got to win one more game and that could come against visiting Dayton.
But the Cryers are really behind the eight ball now. Thor, are you listening?

Unbeleivable....Dayton up by 5 with 57 sec....Sandoval misses the front end on two? one and ones(correct me here if I'm wrong)....D Harris draines two threes to get them back in the game, the final three to win it.

Hell, it reminded me a bit about Lisch(vs X) throwing up bombs that hit nothing but net for 2 minutes. That was one HELL of an ending for ANY basketball fan to witness.

PS I'm glad UD lost.

I stand corrected and that in itself adds irony to the game(Roberts missing the front end) to save UDs season. Who knows though, as many games as they have lost of the past ten , they always seem to make it into all the Bracketologys. It is somewhat unfortunate that a player of Roberts skill and character most likely will never play in the NCAAs. I loathe the team up north(the fans to be more succinct), but hope for the best for the kids on the team. Their road to the NCAAs, due to tonights decision, but hosting a few games in the NIT night help to heal the wounds(I could give a rats ass about the fans, hope the players could have some closure) of one of the more up and down seasons that I have ever seen.
