I attend a University in the Hoosier state, not IU, and so I have many friends who are IU fans. My roommate in particular is a huge fan and has been on message boards trying to gage the fan base. I know that the fan base has a pretty low impact on who if hired in a Coaching search, but one name I have heard a lot of is Scott Skiles. Many fans are talking about Skiles being hired at IU if (when) Sampson is fired. I have no clue how much reliability there is to that statement but just another name to throw out for those interested in the IU search for more than just Sean, and also some buffer against those worried about losing Coach Miller.

I think all of you are naive to think that Sean wouldn't take the job if offered to him. Face it, it's a fact of life since pete gillen, skip prosser, thad matta, X can't seem to hold a coach for more then 5 or 6 years. I'm a huge X fan, I bleed blue and as much as i want sean here for a LONG time i just think that millions compared to thousands makes more sense for anybody and their family. Hopefully Im wrong and he won't be the top candidate but I think after X makes the final four this year it will vault him to the top of the list if he isn't there all ready. Hopefully he won't pull a matta move and say how much he really wants to be here and split and the first sign of big dollars.

I somewhat agree with you but I also think things have changed a little since Matta. I don't think Matta thought he could get the recruits at X that he will get at OSU. In this case with IU one of the violations happened with Kenny Frease himself. Obviously Frease chose X over IU and maybe that type of trend will keep Miller in house for a while.

I think that XU is getting to a point where they can be just as reputable of a program as the next guy... err... BCS school.

Of course, it will help more if we can get to the Final Four.

Your all living in a dreamworld if your so sure that Sean will forego the riches of an IU head coaching position. I swear it's annoying to hear it every time, about every coach who comes in here and has success. "His family really loves it here!", "His wife loves Cincinnati", "He really believes in Xavier's philosophy". Please. He may leave or he may not, but don't kid yourself into a false sense of security. He won't be the first and he won't be the last. I, obviously, hope he stays but I would totally understand if he doesn't. I just hope if he doesn't stay that we don't see Kenny Frease and Brad Redford in IU jerseys next year.

its ok to debate one's brains out over miller/IU i suppose. last i heard sampson is suspended, (5?) days to appeal, AND rumors of IU Hoosier mutiny threatening not to play if sampson is gone. conflict: IU, President, A.D., Coach, Players.. i have confidence Miller could right the IU ship if that's what he were to choose. Hope not, he's 1 of a kind...X and Miller do share something in common, 1st class.... covered bridges are not for everybody. the end...

Stewiex not to call you a troll but it is pretty obvious you have an agenda here. If anyone wants to see the same thing all you have to do is see what you have posted since you have joined this forum. Xavier is more realistically 13-18 rather then #10 and then 15 posts about how Sean Miller will take the first train out of town. Funny you don't comment on anything else.

The latest story is that the AD met with the players last night. The players said if Sampson is not the coach then they aren't playing.I would say fine-turn in your uniforms and scholarships cause you aren't playing here any more.

The Skiles rumor comes from a writer in Minnesota who said he thought Indiana would hire Skiles. Don't know what his source is, but I would be very surprised if Skiles was the choice (if they went with an NBA coach, it would almost certainly be Lawrence Frank or Randy Wittman over Skiles).

I wouldn't start worrying about losing Miller yet. IF he is one of the finalists in IU's mind (and there will be many, many candidates rumored), and IF they offer him the job, then there is a chance he would take it. However, that is a long way down the road.

Don't know if this was already posted, but Sean is on Pat Forde's list of possible replacements...nothing we didn't expect

Xavierj, I may be alot of things but a troll isn't one of them. I can talk xbball at work all day so I don't need any input from this forum, but the Sean Miller debate is bigger than that and I'm always curious as to any real information on it. Personally, I think X is better off staying out of the top ten rankings. Teams with those single digit rankings get a different kind of game from their opponents. Sorry if that annoys you. I do now see what drove off many of the old mm faithful.
