I have the sports pack with Directv, and have missed only 2 games. Get a better cable package Gary, it's not like you can't afford it, or does your golf and beer budget eat up your spare cash?Mr. Neutral wrote:stop, I don't know if "PM" was necessarily talking about X, but possibly some of the other A-10 NCAA possibles.

Want to know how often the A-10 is on here in Chicago? Not very. And if it's good enough for Butler and Drake, it's sure as hell good enough for URI, SJU, UMass and maybe even Temple.

Re: Why no bracket buster?
no offense, but why does anyone even respond to this crap?? it's obviously a troll, and every time someone responds they are helping his cause. if someone posted this on the louisville board, who isn't even as good as xavier this year, one or two people might tell the original poster that they're crazy (or some other four to five word response), everyone would get a good laugh, and then it would sink right to the bottom. that would be that. the less we feel the need to defend ourselves against being called a "mid-major," the less of a "mid-major" we'll be, yet here we are arguing with this clown.

MOR I am taking care of it and hope within a few days the real PMthor will regain his moniker. It is above my control but the powers know the situation and have told me they will try and do something. In the mean time bearchatter might give you some more bogus threads and post but just ignore him until I say it is okay.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

I think Louisville vs. Xavier would be an excellent Bracket Buster game.

Guys, I agree 10000% that X has no business in the Bracket Buster setup this year. But I don't think it would hurt some of our teams that aren't tourney locks at this point. Just my opinion.

It wouldn't hurt some of the bubble ACC teams either. Wonder if they'll take part. I'm on the edge of my seat.

Re: Why no bracket buster?
the reason why there is no A-10 team in the bracket buster games is because the A-10 is not a mid major. Though there are teams that could use the help, most teams in the A-10 that can make the tourny have a pretty good RPI. There are way too many "bracket buster" games this year, cause 95% of the teams in them won't make the tourney.

I guess you guys are right. The last thing #44 SJU, #68 Temple and #88 Charlotte need is a chance to improve their national visibility. Better to take their chances on an A-10 Network watched by a lot less people.

Re: Why no bracket buster?
The Bracket Buster was begun and has continued to be for MID- MAJOR TEAMS AND LEAGUES ONLY, repeat, ONLY.
It was originally a series of games made for TV purposes only. Xavier and all the A10 teams have absolutely no business in this ESPN created series of games designed with the help of the Big 6 conferences. Butler and others in the Horizon League and the MAC et-al, have been duped into thinking they get more exposure by swallowing their pride and accepting mid-major status.
Xavier doesn't want that status and neither does the A10, which, in one of its recent rare moments of sanity, agreed with Mike Bobinski when he turned down the award to Lavender.
Yes, the A10 television package leaves a lot to be desired and contributes to several areas throughout this region where Xavier basketball is unobtainable. And yes, Butler and Valpariso put on one fun game to watch the other night with Butler taking the lead and winning in the game's final seconds on one gutsy three-point shot that connected while Tennessee was --after early trouble --beating the crap out of Florida during so-called "rivalry Week," or is it "Student Spirit Week," or Open and Best Ball Jaggoff week."
Enough made for TV games for phony reasons. Soon we'll begin another Road to the Final Four, and the Big Six conferences will send an inordinate number of teams with 16-14 records to the NCAA Tournament simply because they're in tough conferences and by some divine right of money, money, oooooh money babeeee (Yes, he's back) deserve a place in the tourney. And once again the Non-6 conferences will struggle to get one team in, or be saddled with a 14, 15 or even 16 seed. It is the Big 6 teams that have lousy records and don't belong in the tournament--like Syracuse last year with its soft OOC schedule-- who should get the 14, 15 or 16 seed or have to endure the play-in game in Urine Dump.
But Bracket Buster for Butler, ever, for Xavier, never!
